Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a> has broken yet another impressive record with the release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n Billboard<\/em><\/a> reported on Saturday, October 4, that the \u201cFate of Ophelia\u201d singer, 35, sold 2.7 million copies of The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> within 24 hours of its release. Dating tracking firm Luminate measured traditional album sales, which combines physical and digital purchases of the record.<\/p>\n Swift\u2019s impressive 2.7 million in sales is her biggest album opening ever in the U.S., and trails behind only Adele<\/strong>\u2019s 2015 release 25<\/em> \u2014 which sold 3.378 million copies in its first week \u2014 as the all-time record holder since Luminate\u2019s tracking began 1991. (The firm’s sales data powers Billboard<\/em>\u2019s charts.)<\/p>\n Swift also set a new record in the vinyl category, having sold 1.2 million physical LPs since Showgirl<\/em>\u2019s release on Friday, October 3. Later that day, Swift casually discussed her recent engagement<\/a> to NFL star Travis Kelce<\/strong> while guesting alongside Cillian Murphy<\/strong>, Greta Lee<\/strong>, Jodie Turner-Smith<\/strong> and Domhnall Gleeson<\/strong> on The Graham Norton Show<\/em> in the U.K.<\/p>\n A promotional schedule on her Taylor Nation Instagram<\/a> asked Swifties to \u201cstandby\u201d on Saturday for a special announcement, which turned out to be confirmation of \u201cfour limited CD releases\u201d<\/a> of The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> \u2014 each featuring two newly-recorded acoustic or remixed versions of specific songs on the album.
