The Saturday Night Live<\/a><\/em> Season 51 premiere featured James Austin Johnson<\/a> as President Donald Trump<\/a> issuing a bold warning to late-night TV \u2014 after interrupting Colin Jost<\/a> as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Saturday, October 4, the highly anticipated SNL<\/em> cold open<\/a> began with Jost as Hegseth addressing a \u201cserious problem: Our military is gay as hell.\u201d He added, \u201cThanks to failed liberal politics, our army has never been gayer. And yet, it\u2019s also never been fatter.\u201d<\/p>\n Jost continued to poke fun at Hegseth\u2019s bizarre speech, later declaring, \u201cNo fuggos, no fatties, no facial hair, no body hair. Just hot, shredded, hairless men who are definitely not gay.\u201d<\/p>\n Partway through, Johnson, as Trump, broke the fourth wall to interrupt. Jost had just finished saying that the U.S. is \u201cfacing the greatest\u00a0 threat to freedom and democracy the world has ever known,\u201d as he suddenly froze and \u201cTrump\u201d interjected, \u201cLate-night TV!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m just here keeping my eye on\u00a0SNL<\/em>, making sure they don\u2019t do anything too mean about me,\u201d Johnston said. \u201cAnd they better be careful, because I know late-night TV like the back of my hand.\u201d The \u201cPOTUS\u201d then held up his hand, showing the discoloring on the back of it that has never been addressed, before suddenly hiding his hand and telling people not to look.<\/p>\n \u201cThey better be on their best behavior,\u201d Johnson warned. \u201cOtherwise, they\u2019ll have to answer to my attack dog at the FCC, Brendan Carr.\u201d<\/p>\n That\u2019s when Mikey Day<\/a> made a cameo as the FFC\u2019s chairman as he danced across the screen to the song \u201cSomebody\u2019s Watching Me.\u201d<\/p>\n Following pressure from Carr<\/a>, ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> <\/a>for six days after Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>\u2018s remarks in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk<\/a>\u2018s death. Kirk, 31, the founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University<\/a> on September 10.<\/p>\n On the September 15 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em><\/a>\u00a0Kimmel criticized the responses to Kirk\u2019s death from Trump and his supporters. \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend,\u2019 he said. \u201cWith the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.\u201d<\/p>\n The late-night show then cut to a scene of a reporter asking Trump who he was coping after Kirk\u2019s death, to which the POTUS said, \u201cI think very good,\u201d before changing the subject and talking about the construction of the White House ballroom.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is not how an adult grieves the murder of somebody he called a friend,\u201d Kimmel pointed out. \u201cThis is how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?\u201d<\/p>\n Ultimately, Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> returned to ABC<\/a> on September 23.<\/p>\n
