Gray’s Anatomy star Camilla Luddington has shared a health update<\/a> following her recent Hashimoto’s disease diagnosis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old actress, known for her role as Dr. Jo Wilson in the ABC medical drama<\/a>, said she is learning to live with the autoimmune disease and admitted she is still “fresh into this journey.”<\/p>\n

The star’s health update came weeks after she outlined what her ideal Grey\u2019s Anatomy spinoff would entail, even though it might be a “big task” to get done. <\/a><\/p>\n

In an interview with People<\/a> at the 2025 Inspiration Awards benefiting Step Up in Los Angeles this weekend, Camilla admitted, “It’s still new to me. I got the diagnosis at the beginning of summer, so I’m fresh into this journey.<\/p>\n

“I am on Levothyroxine, which is a thyroid medicine, and I can tell you that a lot of things have changed.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The star added, “It feels like a lot of self-care at this point, just avoiding gluten and all these things that I’m sort of learning.”<\/p>\n

She also opened up about her struggles with brain fog – one of the symptoms of the disease – and said managing it is key so that she can focus while at work.<\/p>\n

Hashimoto’s disease is an autoimmune disorder affecting the thyroid gland, explains the Mayo Clinic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In Hashimoto’s disease, immune-system cells lead to the death of the thyroid’s hormone-producing cells. The disease usually results in a decline in hormone production (hypothyroidism).<\/p>\n

It is most common among middle-aged women, and the primary treatment is thyroid hormone replacement.<\/p>\n

The disease is also known as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis and chronic autoimmune thyroiditis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
