English reggae band UB40 stopped at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown L.A. as part of their \u201cRelentless\u201d tour this past Thursday.<\/p>\n
The group, which formed in and has been playing consistently since the late 1970s, is known for its diverse line-up and longstanding popularity and influence in the reggae and dub scenes. <\/p>\n
You may know them for their\u00a0rendition of \u201cRed Red Wine\u201d by Neil Diamond \u2013 which went No. 1 on the Billboard when it was rereleased in 1988, five years after the band first published the cover. They also found success with a cover of Elvis Presley\u2019s \u201cCan\u2019t Help Falling In Love\u201d \u2014 which the band renamed \u201c(I Can\u2019t Help) Falling in Love with You.\u201d<\/p>\n
Of course, UB40 \u2013 the name of which derives from a British unemployment benefit form \u2013 performed those two legendary covers as well as other covers they are known for, such as \u201cMany Rivers to Cross\u201d as originally performed by Jimmy Cliff, \u201cThe Way You Do the Things You Do\u201d as originally performed by The Temptations and \u201cI\u2019ll Be Your Baby Tonight\u201d as originally performed by Bob Dylan.<\/p>\n
Series of earthquakes hit Big Bear area <\/a><\/p>\n Fans were also treated to performances of some of the band\u2019s top original songs too, such as \u201cOne in Ten\u201d and \u201cSing Our Own Song,\u201d among others. <\/p>\n
