TikTok influencer Anna Muller<\/strong> responded to criticism over her husband, Cameron Muller<\/strong>, taking her last name after they were recently married.<\/p>\n

In an interview with People<\/em><\/a>, published on Sunday, October 5, Anna spoke about the couple\u2019s decision, which was formalized via legal paperwork filed by Cameron at the end of September.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people think, \u2018You flipped tradition,\u2019 and that\u2019s not what happened,\u201d Anna told the outlet. \u201cWe evolved past it. It\u2019s so important that there\u2019s more conversation and it\u2019s more normalized that there are different ways to go about partnerships that can be more equal.\u201d<\/p>\n

The TikTok video<\/a> that sparked outrage was shared by Anna on September 27. It showed Cameron walking through the couple\u2019s front door with paperwork in his hand as a caption read, \u201cJust married and he officially took my last name.\u201d Cameron excitedly told the camera in the clip, \u201cI am officially Mr. Muller.\u201d<\/p>\n

After initially labelling the backlash \u201coutrageous\u201d via TikTok<\/a> several days later, Anna also took to her Instagram<\/a> on Sunday to speak further about the criticism. \u201cYou know that the comments you make are public, right? Accountability will also be public \ud83e\udd0d,\u201d Anna wrote alongside multiple screenshots of critical comments. \u201cThis is addressing a viral video of mine that has gotten a lot of backlash and controversy (which is actually absurd) particularly because all the video is about is my husband taking my last name when we got married. That\u2019s literally it, that\u2019s the outrage. Apparently.\u201d<\/p>\n

During her interview with People<\/em>, Anna was joined by Cameron who shared his own take on the ordeal. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t a lengthy, drawn-out conversation,\u201d Cameron said, with the outlet noting that the pair share German heritage so taking Muller as his own last name \u201cmade a lot of sense for both of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
