Grammy-winning music producer Ike Turner Jr., son of musicians Ike Turner<\/a> and Tina Turner<\/a>, has died. He was 67.<\/p>\n

Singer Afida Turner, his late half-brother Ronnie Turner’s wife, shared the news in an Oct. 5 Instagram post<\/a>. “Rest in peace Ike Jr.,” she wrote in the caption, adding that he “was (an) amazing brother in law” and that she’s “glad” to have spoken with him over the phone before his death.<\/p>\n

His cousin Jacqueline Bullock, who is Tina Turner’s niece, confirmed his passing to TMZ<\/a> and Page Six<\/a> on Oct. 5.<\/p>\n

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner, Jr.,” she told Page Six in a statement. “Junior was more than a cousin to me, but\u00a0rather a\u00a0brother, as we grew up in the same famed household together.”<\/p>\n

USA TODAY has reached out to the family for comment.<\/p>\n

In 2007, Ike Turner Jr. shared a Grammy win in the best traditional blues album category with his father for what ended up being Ike Turner’s final studio album, “Risin’ With The Blues.” Ike Turner died 10 months later at 76 years old on Dec. 12, 2007.<\/p>\n

Born to Ike Sr. and Lorraine Taylor in 1958, Ike Jr. was adopted by Tina Turner during her marriage to his father, which lasted from 1962 to 1978. She’d also adopted his brother, Michael.<\/p>\n

“Tina raised me from the age of two. She’s the only mother I\u2019ve ever known,” Ike Jr. told The Mail on Sunday<\/a> in 2018, alleging he hadn’t spoken with her since 2000. But he also alleged, “We were raised by housekeepers because my mother and father were gone 11 months out of a year.”<\/p>\n

Ike Sr. adopted Tina Turner’s son Craig, whom she shared with saxophonist Raymond Hill. Craig Turner died by suicide at age 59 in 2018.<\/p>\n

Tina Turner and Ike Sr. shared one biological child, Ronnie. He was 62 when he died<\/a> from complications due to metastatic colon cancer in December 2022.<\/p>\n

Five months later, Tina Turner died at 83<\/a> following a longterm illness.<\/p>\n

Ike Jr., who appeared to have a complicated relationship with his parents, worked with Ike Sr. and Tina Turner throughout his career.<\/p>\n

“My father took me out of school at 13. I ended up running his recording studio, plus going on the road with them,” he told the outlet. “They made a lot of money on tour, and my father used to make me count it until my hands were grey.”<\/p>\n

Though he worked with his mother as she launched her post-Ike & Tina Turner career following her split from Ike Sr., his father did not want him working with Tina Turner, Ike Jr. told The Mail on Sunday.<\/p>\n

“When my mother and father separated, he did not want me working with her \u2013 and he beat me in the head with a nickel-plated .45 pistol,” he alleged.<\/p>\n

He also noted he’d forgiven his father.<\/p>\n
