Hemsworth, as well as his co-star Christian Bale, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/chris-hemsworth-thor-love-and-thunder-b2537429.html\">are not fans of Taika Waititi\u2019s Thor: Love and Thunder<\/a> while Bloom <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/orlando-bloom-troy-brad-pitt-b2542408.html\">said he has \u201cblanked\u201d 2004 film Troy <\/a>from his memory.<\/p>\n<p>Others (we\u2019re looking at you, Bill Murray) have even gone on to poke fun at their disliked role during a role in another film.<\/p>\n<p>Then there are those \u2013 for example Charlize Theron \u2013 have admitted accepting a film purely based on the director\u2019s filmography, only to then be let down by the final result of their collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>Below,\u00a0The Independent\u00a0looks at 23 actors who have been vocal about disliking films they have starred in.<\/p>\n<p><strong>George Clooney \u2013\u00a0Batman &amp; Robin (1997)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck \u2013 some of Hollywood\u2019s best-known actors have played the Caped Crusader on screen. However, only one wore a suit with Batnipples \u2013\u00a0and that was George Clooney. \u201cLet me just say that I\u2019d actually thought I\u2019d destroyed the franchise until somebody else brought it back years later and changed it,\u201d he once said of the role. \u201cI thought at the time that this was going to be a very good career move. It wasn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Halle Berry \u2013 Catwoman (2004)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Halle Berry remains one of the few actors to accept her Razzie award in person. \u201cThank you so much. I never in my life thought I would be up here,\u201d she told the audience, before spoofing her own Oscar acceptance speech and thanking her manager. \u201cHe loves me so much that he convinces me to do projects even when he knows that it is s***.\u201d She recently said she has been \u201ccarrying the weight\u201d of the film\u2019s failure, telling Jimmy Kimmel: \u201cWhatever success it had or didn\u2019t have somehow seemed like it was all my fault. Jessica Alba was one of the first people to jump on the superhero boom of the mid-Noughties, playing Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four. The experience, though, left her wanting to quit acting altogether. \u201cI hated it. I really hated,\u201d she told Elle. \u201cI remember when I was dying in Silver Surfer. The director was like, \u2018It looks too real. It looks too painful. Can you be prettier when you cry? Cry pretty, Jessica\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bill Murray \u2013 Garfield: The Movie (2004)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bill Murray only voiced animated car Garfield because of a misunderstanding: he thought Joel Coen, of the Coen brothers fame, had written the script. In fact, it was written by Joel Cohen (Cheaper by the Dozen,Monster Mash: The Movie).  \u201cI was exhausted, soaked with sweat, and the lines got worse and worse. And I said, \u2018Okay, you better show me the whole rest of the movie, so we can see what we\u2019re dealing with,\u2019\u201d he told GQ. \u201cSo I sat down and watched the whole thing, and I kept saying, \u2018Who the hell cut this thing? Who did this? What the f*** was Coen thinking?\u2019 And then they explained it to me: it wasn\u2019t written by that Joel Coen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Channing Tatum \u2013\u00a0GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll be honest, I f***ing hate that movie,\u201d Channing Tatum said of GI Joe. \u201cI was pushed into doing it. The script wasn\u2019t any good. And I didn\u2019t want to do something that I \u2013 that I was a fan of since I was a kid and watched every morning growing up \u2013 and didn\u2019t want to do something that was, one, bad. However, has seen enough of it to know it was a disaster. He let his feelings be known in 2016 film Deadpool, in which the character shoots fictional version of himself in the head for taking on the role. He also recently revealed his <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/ryan-reynolds-green-lantern-b2294487.html\">horrified response upon realising how bad the film was<\/a> during its premiere.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark Wahlberg \u2013 The Happening (2008)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to know whether Mark Wahlnberg would be so against M Night Shyamalan\u2019s critically maligned film The Happening if he hadn\u2019t found himself the butt of its joke. One scene in the film shows the actor giving it his all while talking to a killer plant and, if that sounds ridiculous written down, it\u2019s even more ridiculous watching it play out on screen.<\/p>\n<p>Wahlberg has branded the film \u201ca bad movie\u201d and, during a press conference for The Fighter in 2010, he told his co-star Amy Adams that she \u201cdodged a bullet\u201d when she lost the chance to star in The Happening. The role went to New Girl\u2019s Zooey Deschanel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Viola Davis \u2013 The Help (2011)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Viola Davis was nominated for an Oscar for The Help. Yet, the actor deeply regretted playing the maid Aibileen Clark, saying her character\u2019s voice is not heard enough in the final film. \u201cHave I ever done roles that I\u2019ve regretted? I have, and The Help is on that list,\u201d she told The New York Times of Tate Taylor\u2019s film. \u201cI want to know what it feels like to work for white people and to bring up children in 1963, I want to hear how you really feel about it. I never heard that in the course of the movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josh Brolin \u2013\u00a0Jonah Hex (2010)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before playing Thanos in Avengers, Josh Brolin portrayed another comic-book character on screen: Jonah Hex. Unlike the Avengers films, Hex was not well received by critics \u2013 or indeed Brolin himself. \u201cI think it deserved that bashing for reasons that those critics will never know,\u201d he told Total Film in 2014. \u201cWe were almost ready to drop [the film] when this kid [director Jimmy Hayward] came up. He was an interesting young guy full of energy and he was obsessed with Jonah Hex. I thought, \u2018This is either a really bad decision or a brilliant decision.\u2019 [It was] really bad.\u201d He recently <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/ryan-reynolds-green-lantern-b2294487.html\">said he \u201cstill owes\u201d his co-stars<\/a>, Megan Fox, Michael Fasbender and John Malkovich, for putting them through the film.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim Carrey \u2013\u00a0Kick-Ass 2 (2013)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012, Jim Carrey distanced himself from the violent Kick-Ass sequel. \u201cI did Kick-Ass a month before Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence,\u201d he wrote on Twitter, denouncing the film. \u201cMy apologies\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katherine Heigl \u2013 Knocked Up (2007)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Knocked Up remains one of Katherine Heigl\u2019s best-known roles, despite the actor having said she found the whole thing \u201ca little sexist\u201d. \u201cIt paints the women as shrews, as humourless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys,\u201d she told Vanity Fair. \u201cIt exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it, on some days.\u201d She eventually issued a public apology to the film\u2019s director, Judd Apatow, for her comments.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-awdjp1-2 cbpRGD sc-awdjp1-3 image align-none\">\n<div data-gallery-length=\"5\" class=\"sc-awdjp1-0 euZgnP\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.independent.co.uk\/2021\/12\/06\/12\/newFile-5.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.independent.co.uk\/2021\/12\/06\/12\/newFile-5.jpg?quality=75&amp;width=320&amp;auto=webp 320w, https:\/\/static.independent.co.uk\/2021\/12\/06\/12\/newFile-5.jpg?quality=75&amp;width=640&amp;auto=webp 640w\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Katherine Heigl once criticised Judd Apatow\u2019s \u2018Knocked Up\u2019\" class=\"sc-1mc30lb-0 ggpMaE inline-gallery-btn\"\/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"sc-1uf4o3q-1 hwVecx\">open image in gallery<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Katherine Heigl once criticised Judd Apatow\u2019s \u2018Knocked Up\u2019<span class=\"sc-1cbdeug-7 CXMrn\"> (Universal Pictures)<\/span><\/div>\n<p><strong>Colin Farrell \u2013\u00a0Miami Vice (2006)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Few actors are quite as straight talking as Colin Farrell, who said of the 2006 blockbuster Miami Vice: \u201cMiami Vice? I didn\u2019t like it so much. I thought it was style over substance and I accept a good bit of the responsibility.\u201d The Michael Mann film has been reappraised by fans in recent years, with many believing it didn\u2019t get a fair ride upon its release. It\u2019s unknown whether Farrell has changed his mind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jennifer Lawrence \u2013\u00a0Passengers (2016)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking toThe New York Times , Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence said there have been times when she felt: \u2018Oh no, you guys are here because I\u2019m here, and I\u2019m here because you\u2019re here. Wait, who decided that this was a good movie?\u2019\u201d When asked if <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/jennifer-lawrence-adele-passengers-causeway-b2217454.html\">a certain project made her feel that way<\/a>, she answered: \u201cPassengers, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the Oscar winner, singer Adele instructed her to avoid starring in the film, which co-starred Chris Pratt and was directed by The Imitation Game\u2019s Morten Tyldum. \u201cAdele told me not to do it! She said, \u2018I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies.\u2019 I should have listened to her. Everything was like a rebound effect. I was reacting, rather than just acting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arnold Schwarzenegger \u2013\u00a0Red Sonja (1985)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the worst film I have ever made,\u201d Arnold Schwarzenegger said of the fantasy film Red Sonja. He revealed he thinks the film is so bad that it inspired his favourite punishment. \u201cWhen my kids get out of line, they\u2019re sent to their rooms and forced to watch Red Sonja 10 times. I wasn\u2019t lying to myself \u2013 that\u2019s why I did it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Megan Fox<\/strong><strong> \u2013 Transformers (2007)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Transformers franchise may have grossed billions of dollars at the box-office, but critics have never looked kindly upon the films. Neither has Megan Fox, who told Entertainment Weekly that \u201cpeople are well aware that this is not a movie about acting\u201d.
