But considering what Byrne had to say about it, fans may have to wait a lot longer before a sequel materializes.<\/p>\n During a recent interview with ET<\/a> at the New York Film Fest, Rose Byrne was asked why there hasn\u2019t been a Spy sequel yet.<\/p>\n \u201cLet\u2019s get it started, I agree. I think there was supposed to be one in the works, but it never eventuated,\u201d Byrne revealed. \u201cI love that film. It\u2019s been rediscovered more and more. People have come up to me and gone, \u2018I really love that movie.\u2019 It\u2019s an absolute, like, treasure. It\u2019s such a fun watch. [Jason] Statham\u2019s so funny. It\u2019s like, my husband\u2019s in it\u2014Bobby [Cannavale]. It\u2019s so funny.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked if she had a pitch for Paul Feig, the writer and director of the original movie, Byrne responded humorously, saying, \u201cI\u2019m going to get one. Tonight\u2019s the night. I\u2019m going to try to come up with one tonight. That\u2019s going to be my goal.\u201d<\/p>\n The movie was received well in terms of both box office numbers and audience reviews.
