Taylor Swift<\/a> has responded to rumours that \u2018The Life Of A Showgirl<\/a>\u2019 is her last album.<\/p>\n Swift released the record, her 12th studio album, on Friday (October 3), following up last year\u2019s \u2018The Tortured Poets Department\u2019<\/a>. Since the album came out, fans have been speculating that the singer may be considering retiring from music. It comes after\u00a0she announced her engagement to Travis Kelce<\/a> back in August.<\/p>\n She also recently indicated that she has no intention of heading out on tour again anytime soon<\/a>, after the gargantuan effort that went into\u00a0her record-breaking \u2018Eras\u2019 tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now, she\u2019s cleared up the rumours, insisting that she\u2019s not quitting music any time soon. In an interview with Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2<\/em><\/a>\u00a0this morning (October 6), she discussed her upcoming marriage, saying: \u201cI\u2019m really right now just like really stoked about the idea that I get to marry this person.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m gonna think about that and then I\u2019m gonna put out this album and then I\u2019m gonna think about other things after that,\u201d she continued. \u201cJust to put you into a window into the psyche of where I\u2019m at right now\u201d<\/p>\n Mills then said, \u201cTaylor, don\u2019t tell me this is your last album,\u201d to which she responded, \u201cWhat? No.\u201d<\/p>\n Mills went on to say: \u201cI just saw some fans going, \u2018Well, she\u2019s going to get married and then she\u2019s going to have children and then she\u2019s going to be the last album\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a shockingly offensive thing to say,\u201d Swift said, laughing: \u201cIt\u2019s not why people get married, so they can quit their job.\u201d The singer continued, saying of her fans: \u201cOh, I know they love to panic sometimes, but it\u2019s like I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s the coolest thing about Travis, like he is so passionate about what he does, that me being passionate about what I do, it connects us. There\u2019s no point in time where he\u2019s gonna be like, \u2018I\u2019m really upset that you\u2019re still making the music\u2019,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n One of the biggest talking points from the record so far has been the track \u2018Actually Romantic\u2019, which is\u00a0widely rumoured to be a diss track directed<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Charli XCX<\/a>. \u201cI heard you call me \u2018Boring Barbie\u2019 when the coke\u2019s got you brave,<\/i>\u201d Swift sings on the song. \u201cHigh-fived my ex and then said you\u2019re glad he ghosted me \/ Wrote me a song saying it makes you sick to see my face \/ Some people might be offended \/ But it\u2019s actually sweet<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n Many considered this a rebuttal to Charli\u2019s\u00a0\u2018Sympathy Is A Knife\u2019<\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0\u2018Brat\u2019<\/a>, on which she sang: \u201cDon\u2019t know if I\u2019m spiralling \/ One voice tells me that they laugh \/ George says I\u2019m just paranoid\u00a0<\/i>\/\u00a0Don\u2019t wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend\u2019s show \/ Fingers crossed behind my back \/ I hope they break up real quick<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n Swift has since said \u2018Actually Romantic\u2019<\/a>\u00a0is \u201ca song about realising that someone else has kind of had a one-sided, adversarial relationship with you that you didn\u2019t know about. And all of a sudden they start doing too much and they start letting you know that actually, you\u2019ve been living in their head rent-free and you had no idea.\u201d<\/p>\n NME<\/em> gave \u2018The Life of a Showgirl\u2019 three stars<\/a>, writing: \u201cTo seek escapism is not a sin, but the best pop music makes the personal feel like life or death. \u2018Speak Now\u2019, \u2018Reputation\u2019<\/a>,\u00a0\u2018Folklore\u2019<\/a>: her greatest works could be genuinely transformative.
