Back then, the cast had no idea they were filming one of the biggest shows ever, but with the first 4 episodes of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/stranger-things-season-5-know-163121809.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Stranger Things Season 5;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\"><em>Stranger Things <\/em>Season 5<\/a> set to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2025-tv-premiere-date-schedule-upcoming-new-returning-shows\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:premiere on the 2025 TV schedule;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">premiere on the 2025 TV schedule<\/a> in November, the cast has been rewatching alongside their fans. Which led to Joe Keery and Charlie Heaton dropping some Season 1 lore that gives me a whole new perspective of their alley fight scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Let me jog your memory: It\u2019s Season 1, and Nancy is dating popular jock Steve Harrington, while also teaming up with loner Jonathan Byers to find out what happened to his brother Will and her best friend Barb. Jonathan has a major crush on Nancy, and the two boys get into it in the alley. As it turns out, actors Keery and Heaton opted not to use their stunt doubles for this scene, and maybe they should have. In a video posted to the <em>Stranger Things<\/em> official <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DPUR_wXD73w\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Instagram;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Instagram<\/a>, the two actors recall filming their fist fight, and Heaton explains what went wrong:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"mb-4 border-l-2 pl-5 italic text-tertiary\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">To my defense, I think I remember why it went wrong twice. \u2026 I punched Joe right in the nose. I push him away, and then I go back, and I, like, do one more punch. And I was like, \u2018Oh my God, I\u2019m so sorry! At first, you were kind of cool, like, \u2018It\u2019s alright, man. Don\u2019t worry about it.\u2019 Like, \u2018Yeah, no, I\u2019m good. We\u2019ll go again.\u2019 And then I did it again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This is why stunt doubles exist! Clearly, Heaton and Keery are able to laugh about it all these years later. But it sounds like that wasn\u2019t the case at the time, with the <em>New Mutants<\/em> actor revealing his scene partner was less than pleased with his mistake the second time around:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"mb-4 border-l-2 pl-5 italic text-tertiary\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">And the second time, you were so mad. You threw me out, like, angry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Looks like the final result wasn\u2019t <em>all<\/em> acting, based on this BTS lore. Perhaps that\u2019s what made the tension between these two characters so good during their alley fight. Some of those emotions were probably real, after the <em>Free Guy<\/em> actor got punched in the face, not once, but twice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It\u2019s important to remember though that 10 years ago, the cast wasn\u2019t as close as they are now, having filmed 5 seasons together. Besides, Keery\u2019s character, everyone\u2019s favorite demogorgon slaying babysitter, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/32-classic-tv-characters-werent-173413122.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:wasn\u2019t intended to have a major role;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">wasn\u2019t intended to have a major role<\/a> in the series. Steve Harrington was supposed to just be Nancy\u2019s asshole boyfriend, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2460395\/three-stranger-things-characters-who-were-originally-meant-to-have-early-deaths\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:originally written off in Season 1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">originally written off in Season 1<\/a>. He became a fan-favorite though, and now has <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/32-tv-characters-arcs-good-013438816.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:one of the best character arcs;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">one of the best character arcs<\/a> of the entire show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So these two actors were probably more strangers than friends when they filmed this scene, and I can see there being less understanding between them, especially if Heaton managed to actually punch the <em>Spree<\/em> actor twice:<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Watching it back, I can\u2019t really blame the <em>Marmalade<\/em> actor. Heaton\u2019s got a mean punch. As we know from later in Season 1, Steve turns out to be not too shabby himself. He steps up to attack the Demogorgon at the Byers\u2019 house in order to save Nancy and Jonathan, and it is still one of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/streaming-news\/stranger-things-steve-harringtons-best-moments-so-far\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Steve\u2019s best moments;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Steve\u2019s best moments<\/a> to this day. It was also one of the first scenes in which this ongoing love triangle puts their angst aside to work together.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">I honestly love this trio when they aren\u2019t at odds with each other, and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/stranger-things-dropped-photos-jonathan-233106682.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:BTS photos from Season 5;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">BTS photos from Season 5<\/a> have me hopeful they will team up again. Most of all, I hope those <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/streaming-news\/popular-stranger-things-fan-theory-steve-harrington\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:popular fan theories about Steve Harrington;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">popular fan theories about Steve Harrington<\/a> aren\u2019t true, and that they all make it out alive.
