Even though he\u2019s a DC guy, Tomlin recently claimed on X that he\u2019s trying to write a fourth film in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man universe, where Peter Parker is trying to balance life as a superhero with raising a family with Mary Jane. Considering the response from fans and even Kirsten Dunst herself, I think this is one film that Sony needs to invest in, rather than giving us another Spidey villain movie like <em>Morbius<\/em> or <em>Kraven the Hunter<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">If Tomlin had his way, this film (tentatively titled <em>Spider-Man 4<\/em>) would be directed by Sam Raimi and reunite Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst on the big screen. The movie\u2019s plot would take a page out of <em>Across the Spider-Verse<\/em> and have a married Peter Parker raising a baby with Mary Jane Watson. But he\u2019s still the amazing Spider-Man, so he must keep the city safe from supervillains while finding time to change the occasional diaper.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-4 text-lg font-bold\"><strong>Crack That Thwip<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So far, this movie is just a pipe dream of Mattson Tomlin, but he\u2019s trying hard (both on social media and behind the scenes) to make <em>Spider-Man 4<\/em> a reality. And, spurred on by Maguire suiting up again in <em>Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/em>, there\u2019s a growing number of fans demanding to see this film become a reality. She said that not only would she want to return but that she would want to explore a film where Mary Jane and Peter Parker are raising children together. That seems plausible enough (Maguire\u2019s character confirmed in <em>No Way Home<\/em> that he and MJ are still together), and it\u2019s perfectly in line with the film that Mattson Tomlin is so feverishly pitching.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-4 text-lg font-bold\"><strong>He\u2019s Something of a Fanboy Himself<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As for original Spidey star <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/tobey-maguire\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Tobey Maguire;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Tobey Maguire<\/a>, he admitted after <em>Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/em> that he had so much fun with this character and with these creators that he\u2019d be happy just to hang out with them in <strong>any<\/strong> circumstance. Regarding the possibility of suiting up again for <em>Spider-Man 4<\/em>, Maguire gave an enthusiastic \u201cyes\u201d and gave the kind of answer fans love to hear. \u201cWhy wouldn\u2019t I want to do that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Unsurprisingly, nobody from the original Spider-Man films seems quite so interested in creating a fourth film as director <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/sam-raimi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Sam Raimi;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Sam Raimi<\/a>. Plus, audiences loved seeing Peter B. Parker as a father figure in <em>Across the Spider-Verse<\/em>, so we know the core concept of Tomlin\u2019s pitch resonates with fans. And Tomlinson is being trusted by James Gunn to help write the most anticipated DC movie since Superman, so I can only imagine Sony would jump at the chance for him to write a blockbuster <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/marvel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Marvel;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Marvel<\/a> movie.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-4 text-lg font-bold\"><strong>Does Whatever a Spider-Fan Can<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It\u2019s easy to be cynical about <em>Spider-Man 4<\/em>\u2019s chances, but remember: there\u2019s no time like the present to go on social media and tell the world how much you want to see this movie. Both Sony and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/disney\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Disney;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Disney<\/a> could use a hit Marvel movie right now, and an army of vocal fans may be what it takes for them to pull out the director\u2019s chair for Sam Raimi.
