Indie pop band The Format<\/a> is on a roll. The band finally got to do the reunion shows<\/a> that were postponed by the pandemic, and they\u2019ve just dropped a brand-new single.<\/p>\n Equally exciting, the band will appear on \u201cThe Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon\u201d tonight to play this rocking newbie.<\/p>\n The track \u201cHoly Roller\u201d is out now. The full-length record, \u201cBoycott Heaven,\u201d is slated to make its debut on January 23, 2026. Clocking in at just under four minutes, the song paces forward musically with intent and urgency, naturally including rich and catchy riffs. When that sonic backdrop and the vocals merge, a whole lot of emotion is what results.<\/p>\n \u201cHoly roller\/don\u2019t go wasting all your time\/praying for a sign\u2026\u201d is a line that couldn\u2019t be more timely in a world loaded with chaos. There\u2019s a maturity in the music that fuses passion and experience that will not only have fans eagerly awaiting \u201cBoycott Heaven\u201d but is sure to be a magnet for new listeners.<\/p>\n This is the band\u2019s third record, and to call it long-awaited is an understatement based on how fast the tickets to their recent slate of shows sold out. In a statement about the release, the band says they decided to release \u201cBoycott Heaven\u201d independently, via The Vanity Label, just as they did with their 2005 record, \u201cDog Problems,\u201d after parting ways with a major label. Using their own imprint for this new one, the band is \u201cbuilding on the legacy and proving that same DIY spirit that fueled their early years.\u201d<\/p>\n Both Ruess and Means have been busy over the years. Ruess has maintained an active solo career that has included forming the band fun., which has had some chart-topping tunes. He\u2019s also collaborated with some names you may recognize, like Pink, Young Thug and Hayley Williams from pop-punk act Paramore. <\/p>\n Means has also continued to perform and locally has built a fruitful business, Hello Merch<\/a>, a global, full-service merchandise company for bands and creatives to manufacture and sell their goods.<\/p>\n We don\u2019t know yet what this new swirl of activity means for the band in terms of more shows and touring, but in the meantime, one song is here to connect listeners to the upcoming record the band says is full of \u201cexistential protest songs, power chord-driven rockers, love letters to family and friendship and a persistent belief in the possibility of something better.\u201d <\/p>\n![\"Decorative](\"https:\/\/www.phoenixnewtimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/10\/Boycott-Heaven-Album-Cover.jpg?w=1024\")
