Jennifer Lopez called out Craig Melvin after he asked the Grammy-nominated singer about her divorce from Ben Affleck<\/a> during an interview with the \u201cToday\u201d show<\/a> on Monday, Oct. 6.<\/p>\n \u201cIn the middle of filming this elaborate, beautiful musical, your divorce was also finalized with Ben,\u201d Melvin, 46, said while discussing Lopez\u2019s newest film, \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere you go!\u201d Lopez, 56, fired back. \u201cLook at this guy!\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cToday\u201d host, however, clarified that he only brought the subject up because Affleck, 53, helped produce the Bill Condon-directed musical drama.<\/p>\n \u201cBut then I read that your ex is an executive producer on the film,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Lopez went on to laugh about the situation before acknowledging her ex-husband\u2019s role in producing \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf it wasn\u2019t for Ben, the movie wouldn\u2019t have gotten made,\u201d the hitmaker shared. \u201cAnd I will always give him that credit.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd yeah, things happen, you have to keep going,\u201d she added regarding their split.<\/p>\n Although Lopez didn\u2019t elaborate further about her and the \u201cGood Will Hunting\u201d star\u2019s divorce, she did acknowledge how the new movie helped her navigate through a difficult moment in her life.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s funny, the movie is about escapism. It\u2019s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives,\u201d she explained. \u201cDoing this project was such a dream come true for me that it really got me through to kind of survive a moment that was difficult in my personal life as well.\u201d<\/p>\n As for what\u2019s next for the pop icon, Lopez said she \u201ctook some time off\u201d after filming \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman\u201d and \u201cnow we\u2019re back.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m really excited for everybody to see this film,\u201d she shared. \u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful film about love.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cAnd it sounds like it might have helped save you,\u201d Melvin added, before Lopez replied, \u201cIt did, it did!\u201d<\/p>\n Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance in the spring of 2021, years after breaking off their first engagement in 2004.<\/p>\n The pair went on to tie the knot<\/a> in 2022 \u2014 but the union didn\u2019t last.<\/p>\n The \u201cSelena\u201d star pulled the plug on their marriage<\/a> in August 2024 after they quietly parted ways earlier that year.\u00a0<\/p>\n Lopez and the \u201cJustice League\u201d actor settled their divorce<\/a>\u00a0in January 2025, and it was finalized one month later.<\/p>\n J.Lo previously opened up about filming \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman\u201d amid her split from Affleck during a sitdown with \u201cCBS News Sunday Morning\u201d<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a really tough time,\u201d she told host Lee Cowan. \u201cEvery moment on set, every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy, and then it was like, back home, it was not great.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd it was just like, oh, you know, \u2018How do I reconcile this?’\u201d Lopez added.<\/p>\n
