Prince William has been applauded for putting his family first as a royal family member, but there seem to be growing concerns about his ability to tackle a full work schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cFor me, the most important thing in my life is family,\u201d the Prince of Wales told Eugene Levy in the most recent episode of Apple TV+\u2019s The Reluctant Traveler<\/a><\/em>. He sounds a little defensive about not working a \u201cnine-to-five\u201d day, but as The Times <\/a><\/em>pointed out, \u201cthere has historically been a question mark over his work ethic humming under the surface.\u201d<\/p>\n More from SheKnows<\/strong><\/p>\n The data doesn\u2019t lie when the number of royal engagements is tallied at the end of the year. \u201cHis father and his aunt, Princess Anne, clock up far more engagements<\/a> than him, year in, year out,\u201d per the U.K. outlet. But it\u2019s also clear that William wants to be a \u201chands-on father\u201d to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 \u2014 and no one can fault him for that.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything is about the future and about if you don\u2019t start the children off now with a happy, healthy, stable home, I feel like you\u2019re setting them up for a bit of a hard time and a fall \u2026 you try and make sure you don\u2019t make the same mistakes as your parents \u2026 I just want to do what\u2019s best for my children,\u201d he told Levy.<\/p>\n Still, Prince William is having a harder time explaining away his light work schedule, especially as his children grow older and the worst of Kate Middleton\u2019s cancer battle is behind her. Tina Brown\u2019s Sept. 10 Fresh Hell<\/a><\/em> Substack column hinted that King Charles III was growing frustrated<\/a> with his eldest son.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter five confirmed family vacations in the past seven months, William\u2019s first-week-back diary pulsated with two outings: a father-daughter excursion to a Women\u2019s Rugby World Cup pool match and a stroll through the Natural History Museum\u2019s new gardens,\u201d she wrote while noting that Charles had \u201ccarried out official engagements on 175 days during the past 12 months\u201d in the middle of his cancer battle.<\/p>\n And it\u2019s not just his father, Princess Anne is reportedly \u201cannoyed\u201d<\/a> that William isn\u2019t interested in doing \u201cmore of the \u2018bread-and-butter\u2019 royal engagements,\u201d per a July 2025 report for The Times<\/a><\/em>.
