Cardi B<\/a> went through a rough time recently, but luckily, Shakira<\/a> was there to help her through some of it.<\/p>\n In an interview on Jay Shetty\u2019s On Purpose <\/em>podcast posted Monday (Oct. 6), the rapper looked back on the period of time in her marriage to Offset during which she felt their feelings for each other waning. \u201cI also feel like my marriage, I felt the love dying \u2014 from my end, from his end,\u201d Cardi said. \u201cI was very lonely, because I chose to be lonely.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cAround that time, I was working with Shakira, and I was like, \u2018How the f\u2013k did you overcame this?’\u201d she continued of her \u201cPunteria\u201d collaborator. \u201cLike, how did you overcame this? And she\u2019s\u00a0like, \u2018It\u2019s going to happen.\u2019 And [I\u2019m] like, \u2018It will never happen.’\u201d<\/p>\n Despite her initial disbelief, Cardi eventually realized that she would simply have to push through the unraveling of her relationship \u2014 just as Shakira, who went through her own split<\/a> from longtime partner Gerard Piqu\u00e9 in 2022, had said. \u201cAnd it happened,\u201d the Bronx native told Shetty. \u201cIt took some crying, it took some thoughts, scary thoughts. But I\u2019m here, honey, and I\u2019m the strongest I\u2019ve been.\u201d<\/p>\n The interview comes just a couple of weeks after the Grammy winner dropped sophomore album Am I the Drama?<\/em>, on which she seemingly unpacks her feelings toward \u2018Set. After eight years of marriage, Cardi filed for divorce <\/a>\u2014 for a second time \u2014 in July 2024, and the pair have been publicly trading barbs <\/a>as they work toward finalizing their divorce.<\/p>\n Aside from the remaining legal disputes, though, Cardi has fully moved on from her estranged husband.
