Taylor Swift<\/strong> didn\u2019t have the best time writing The Tortured Poets Department.<\/p>\n The 35-year-old appeared on Scott Mills<\/strong>\u2018 Radio 2\u2019s Breakfast Show<\/a> on Monday, October 6, and opened up about what it was like to pen the music for the 2024 record, which is believed to be inspired, in part, by her short-lived romance with British rocker Matty Healy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe cool thing about this record is that I\u2019m in a very similar space in my life as to when I wrote it and now that I\u2019m putting it out, which is nice,\u201d the Grammy winner said, citing her newest album<\/a>, The Life of a Showgirl. \u201cIt\u2019s nice when those things are not incongruous.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou know, like with the last record, I was in such a different place in my life when I wrote it,\u201d she explained, adding that writing The Tortured Poets Department\u00a0was \u201cjust miserable.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then when I put it out, I was so happy,\u201d Swift recalled.<\/p>\n \u201cSo it was like, ah, I love this art. I love this beautiful art about misery. Swift and the 1975 frontman were spotted together in May 2023 shortly after her relationship with actor Joe Alwyn<\/strong> fizzled out.<\/p>\n As Star previously reported<\/a>, Healy seemingly played into rampant rumors that he inspired the album by referring to himself<\/a> as \u2018a poet\u2019 during the 1975\u2019s set at Glastonbury 2025.<\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n
