Taylor Swift<\/strong> didn\u2019t have the best time writing The Tortured Poets Department<\/em>.<\/p>\n The 35-year-old appeared on Scott Mills<\/strong>\u2018 Radio 2\u2019s Breakfast Show<\/a> on Monday, October 6, and opened up about what it was like to pen the music for the 2024 record, which is believed to be inspired, in part, by her short-lived romance with British rocker Matty Healy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe cool thing about this record is that I\u2019m in a very similar space in my life as to when I wrote it and now that I\u2019m putting it out, which is nice,\u201d the Grammy winner said, citing her newest album<\/a>, The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s nice when those things are not incongruous.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou know, like with the last record, I was in such a different place in my life when I wrote it,\u201d she explained, adding that writing The Tortured Poets Department<\/em>\u00a0was \u201cjust miserable.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then when I put it out, I was so happy,\u201d Swift recalled.<\/p>\n \u201cSo it was like, ah, I love this art. I love this beautiful art about misery. I, however, am not miserable anymore so it feels weird to talk about the record because it\u2019s like, you can be proud of the work, but you can also just not relate to that person you were,\u201d the crooner added.<\/p>\n The \u201cLook What You Made Me Do\u201d singer dropped The Tortured Poets Department<\/em> in April 2024.
