Born Dominic Harrison, 28, the United Kingdom native\u00a0took the stage alongside Aerosmith legends Steven Tyler<\/strong> and Joe Perry<\/strong> to honor Ozzy Osbourne<\/strong> on Sept. 7, 2025. At the\u00a0VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS?!?!?!?” one fan wrote on Reddit<\/a>. “My god… Is nothing sacred?”<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Mariah Carey<\/strong>\u2019s much-hyped return<\/a> performance also drew criticism for vocals many claimed couldn\u2019t have been live.<\/p>\n But as one Redditor pointed out<\/a>, “I\u2019d be shocked if anyone playing the VMAs wasn\u2019t lip syncing\u2026 why is anyone surprised by this?”<\/p>\n Someone else claimed Lady Gaga<\/strong>‘s performance was “pre-recorded<\/a>,” but said she sings live in concert.<\/p>\n Who and who wasn’t actually lip-syncing at the 2025 VMAs remains unclear.<\/p>\n “I’ve been involved in some very big broadcast shows, like the Grammys and the American Music Awards, and the time schedule is so precise,”\u00a0Grammy-nominated recording and mix engineer Ariel Chobaz told ABC News’ 20\/20<\/a>. Chobaz, who has worked with\u00a0Nicki Minaj and Rihanna, continued:<\/p>\n “It’s physically not possible to mic an entire band for every segment that comes up.\u00a0So, when they go to perform it, they have the support of the stacks they recorded.
