For each, we\u2019re predicting the nominees, as well as who will (and who should) win on Grammy night.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<hr class=\"separator larva \/\/ dotted-line-separator u-border-dotted lrv-u-border-t-2 u-box-sizing-border-box  \"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThis year\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/best-new-artist\/\" id=\"auto-tag_best-new-artist\" data-tag=\"best-new-artist\">Best New Artist<\/a> field is a head-scratcher because it\u2019s just so wide open. \u201cA lot has been going on in specific genre spaces,\u201d says Cecilia Winter, Editorial Lead for Global Hits at Spotify, \u201cbut the obvious [nominee] choices that we had this time last year are not as present \u2014 with the possible exception of an Alex Warren or a Sombr, who have had hockey-stick growth in the past year and who are also relatively new artists.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"best-new-artist-our-predictions\" class=\"heading larva \/\/   lrv-a-font-primary-l   \">\n\t\tBest New Artist \u2014 Our Predictions\t<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tLola Young\u00a0<br \/>Role Model<br \/>Sombr<br \/>Alex Warren<br \/>Yungblud<br \/>Megan Moroney<br \/>Olivia Dean<br \/>The Mar\u00edas<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"who-will-win\" class=\"heading larva \/\/   lrv-a-font-primary-l   \">\n\t\tWho Will Win?\t<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<strong><em>Alex Warren<\/em><\/strong><br \/>Warren\u2019s dominance of radio and streaming, as well as his unabashed romanticism, will likely result in him taking home the golden gramophone in February. \u201c\u2019Ordinary\u2019 is such a huge love song,\u201d says Winter. \u201cWarren is in a pantheon of male vocalists who are full of love, and yearning, and heartbreak, and pain\u2014and they don\u2019t shy away from those things. [They\u2019ve] historically been well-recognized by the Grammys.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"who-should-win\" class=\"heading larva \/\/   lrv-a-font-primary-l   \">\n\t\tWho Should Win?\t<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<strong><em>Lola Young<\/em><\/strong><br \/>Young had a fantastic year, following up the success of \u201cMessy\u201d with preview cuts from <em>I\u2019m Only F**ing Myself<\/em> that showed how she wasn\u2019t going to let that song\u2019s popularity force her to sound a certain way \u2014 and how she was going to remain fiercely true to herself in her lyric-writing, too. \u201cShe has built this really sticky audience because of these super raw, vulnerable, relatable lyrics,\u201d says Winter. \u201cAnd she has this really compelling voice and sound.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"forecasting-the-field\" class=\"heading larva \/\/   lrv-a-font-primary-l   \">\n\t\tForecasting the Field\t<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tInfluencer-turned-chart-dominator Warren, whose ballad \u201cOrdinary\u201d had a lock on the Hot 100\u2019s top spot this summer, and Sombr, the flame-keeper of downtown New York cool, are two nomination locks. But, Winter notes, \u201cthere aren\u2019t a lot of no-brainer nominees\u201d in terms of acts that are both brand-new and hugely popular.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThere are, however, artists who have been knocking around for a while who fit the Best New Artist criterion of having breakthroughs during the nomination year. Raspy-voiced Brit Lola Young released her first album in 2023, but her downcast 2024 cut \u201cMessy\u201d was one of the year\u2019s biggest viral sensations; her shaggily appealing third full-length <em>I\u2019m Only F**king Myself <\/em>came out on Sept. 19, just after the 2026 Grammys\u2019 eligibility period ended. Witty Nashville upstart Megan Moroney and neo-neo-soul belter Olivia Dean also released their first albums in 2023 but had large leaps into the public consciousness during the September-to-August nomination period.<\/p>\n<section class=\"brands-most-popular \/\/ editors-pick-module lrv-u-margin-tb-2 lrv-u-border-a-2 u-box-shadow-5-5 lrv-u-padding-lr-1 a-span1 u-padding-b-1@tablet u-overflow-hidden\">\n<h2 id=\"section-heading\" class=\"c-heading larva  lrv-u-text-align-center u-border-color-black a-font-theme-primary-xxs lrv-u-color-black lrv-u-text-transform-uppercase u-letter-spacing-0063 lrv-u-padding-t-050 u-padding-b-0375@tablet lrv-u-padding-b-050@mobile-max lrv-u-border-b-2\">\n<p>\t\tEditor\u2019s picks<\/p>\n<\/h2>\n<\/section>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tBritish yelper Yungblud released his debut in 2018 and has been cultivating a fervent fanbase for his ambitious, acidic music in the years since, but his co-sign from Ozzy Osbourne before the metal titan\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/ozzy-osbourne-black-sabbath-dead-obituary-1227265\/\">death<\/a> this summer and his ambitious album <em>Idols<\/em> raised his profile in the wider rock world. Warren\u2019s fellow Hype House alum Addison Rae released her first full-length \u2014 although in contrast to him, her record dwells in what Winter calls \u201cthe underground, cool-girl pop space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSomewhere between those two acts lies the neo-girlband Katseye, who had streaming success with the sinewy \u201cGabriela\u201d and the surrealistic \u201cGnarly.\u201d Leon Thomas began his singing career as a 10-year-old on Broadway, but his second album <em>Mutt<\/em> and its soulful lead single of the same name have marked him as an R&amp;B star.
