An interview with Jennifer Lopez on the \u201cTODAY\u201d show took an awkward turn when anchor Craig Melvin asked about the end of her marriage to Ben Affleck.<\/p>\n
While interviewing \u201cJenny From the Block\u201d singer about her musical film \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman,\u201d Melvin asked a question about her recent divorce.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the middle of filming this elaborate, beautiful musical, your divorce was also finalized with Ben,\u201d Melvin mentioned before Lopez cut him off, responding, \u201cThere you go! Look at this guy!\u201d<\/p>\n
Melvin defended his question noting, \u201cBut then I read that your ex is an executive producer on the film.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lopez acknowledged her ex-husband, saying, \u201cIf it wasn\u2019t for Ben, the movie wouldn\u2019t have gotten made. And I will always give him that credit.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cGet Right\u201d singer then added, \u201cAnd yeah, things happen, you have to keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although Lopez didn\u2019t directly speak on her split from Affleck, she alluded to how the film helped her through a difficult time.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s funny, the movie is about escapism. It\u2019s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives,\u201d she said. \u201cDoing this project was such a dream come true for me that it really got me through to kind of survive a moment that was difficult in my personal life as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
Melvin responded, \u201cAnd it sounds like it might have helped saved you,\u201d to which the actress agreed, \u201cIt did, it did!\u201d<\/p>\n
After breaking off their first engagement back in 2004, Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance in 2021 and married in 2022. Two years after tying the knot, they parted ways again and finalized their divorce in January of 2025.<\/p>\n
In an interview with \u201cCBS News Sunday Morning,\u201d Lopez said filming the musical amid the split was challenging.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a really tough time,\u201d she shared. \u201cEvery moment on set, every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy, and then it was like, back home, it was not great.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
