A former Golden Globe Award winner is asking for help as her health declines. Friends of Sally Kirkland<\/strong>, 83, have been managing a GoFundMe fundraiser<\/a> in hopes of lending the legendary actress some financial support.<\/p>\n It appears that the fundraiser was started in November 2024, but it just received a detailed update. On October 2, the organizer of the GoFundMe shared, “Sally sends her love to everyone.”<\/p>\n They explained, “It has been a challenging few months for Sally as her health continues to struggle. She had a fall in the shower, when she was left unattended; injuring her ribs, foot, along with cuts and bruises.”<\/p>\n “Sally is now receiving 24\/7 care in a specialized facility, that is providing wonderful safety and care,” the organizer added. They thanked everybody for “all the love, support, and care” they are sending to Kirkland.<\/p>\n In May, an update on the page indicated that Kirkland was heading to her fifth facility for ongoing rehabilitation and care.<\/p>\n The original information on the GoFundMe revealed that during the previous year, Kirkland had “fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and left hip.” She developed “two separate life-threatening infections” as she worked to recover, and she had not always received the level of care she needed to recover.<\/p>\n Kirkland created a video<\/a> in November 2024 thanking fans for their support. She said she was “touched beyond words” by how quickly people had stepped up to help her.<\/p>\n The goal for the GoFundMe is currently set at $65,000, with nearly $54,000 already raised via 600 donations. According to People<\/a>, the fundraiser is managed by Mel England<\/strong>, who co-starred with Kirkland in the film Archaeology of a Woman, and Paige Dylan<\/strong>, who is married to singer Bob Dylan<\/strong>, a long-time friend of Kirkland’s.<\/p>\n Kirkland’s acting career<\/a> began in 1960 with an uncredited part in Crack in the Mirror. Over the course of her lengthy career, she appeared in films such as The Way We Were, The Sting, Blazing Saddles, and A Star Is Born.<\/p>\n She also had roles in many television shows, including Charlie’s Angels, Valley of the Dolls, Days of Our Lives, and even Felicity.
