President Donald Trump<\/a> has said he will use the shutdown to slash the budgets, staff and programs of \u201cDemocrat things\u201d in retaliation. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But as Stewart pointed out, Trump has been doing that anyway since taking office in January, gutting staff and budgets for cancer research, foreign aid, food, education and more. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIn other words, to continue doing all the shit Trump has not needed any provocation or pretense or reason to already have been doing, lo, these past, God it feels like fucking 80 years,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cAnd yet, somehow, the Republicans have the balls to continue to insist that the secondhand urine on our legs is rain.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He rolled clips of House Speaker Mike Johnson<\/a> (R-La.) blaming Democrats for the shutdown, saying Trump \u201ctakes no pleasure in this.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBullshit!\u201d Stewart fired back. \u201cThe president takes no pleasure in this? The president takes only pleasure. Given the president\u2019s vascular condition, this might be the only thing keeping him hard. I swear to you. His catchphrase was literally \u2018you\u2019re fired.\u2019 His only reason for getting up in the morning is vengeance.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But Stewart didn\u2019t have much praise for Democratic leaders, either. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
