After three divorces, Christina Haack<\/a> knows what it\u2019s like to deal with the media attention that comes from a public separation<\/a>. So she is the perfect person to give advice to fellow HGTV stars Jen Hatmaker<\/a> and Brandon Hatmaker<\/a> amid their own divorce drama<\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking to Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday (October 1), the Flip Off<\/em><\/a> star credited her publicist\/best friend for teaching her from the very beginning to \u201cignore it\u201d when it comes to the headlines and gossip. She added that it\u2019s best to just \u201cshut up,\u201d take a step back, and try not to react to the reports and online speculation.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you buy into it, no matter how much you\u2019re hurting, no matter how much you want your story out there, like, it\u2019ll never end,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cSo I think my best advice is to, like, just try to stay in your tight-knit group and literally, do not Google. Don\u2019t read the comments.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI feel very bad for them,\u201d she added, referring to Jen and Brandon. \u201c[It\u2019s] so hard to go through that publicly.\u201d<\/p>\n Jen and Brandon, who rose to fame on the HGTV series My Big Family Renovation<\/em>, divorced back in 2020 after 26 years of marriage. However, the separation returned to the headlines in recent weeks following the release of Jen\u2019s new memoir, Awake<\/em>, in which she reveals the moment she found out Brandon was cheating on her.<\/a><\/p>\n In the book, Jen claimed that she woke up to the sound of Brandon whispering on the phone to another woman. She said he smelled of booze, and before he drifted off to sleep, he whispered, \u201cI just can\u2019t quit you.\u201d<\/p>\n That moment was \u201cthe end of my life as I [knew] it,\u201d Jen added, noting that she kicked Brandon out of the house the next morning, effectively ending their marriage. The former couple married in 1993 and went on to welcome five children, two of whom were adopted from Ethiopia.<\/p>\n After Jen\u2019s comments made headlines, Brandon took to his Substack page to respond with a lengthy post.<\/a> \u201cThere are no excuses. But I didn\u2019t just wake up one day and decide to have an affair. I didn\u2019t fall out of love overnight,\u201d he wrote last month. \u201cOur love was coming to a slow and painful ending. And I privately mourned the death of our marriage years before our divorce.\u201d<\/p>\n He returned to Substack later in September to announce he\u2019d no longer be \u201caddressing the details\u201d of his past marriage, noting, \u201cIt\u2019s time to close that chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n Haack, meanwhile, is well-versed in divorce. She and her Flip Off<\/em> co-star, Tarek El Moussa,<\/a> were married\u00a0from 2009 to 2016. After they split, Haack got into a relationship with\u00a0Ant Anstead<\/a>,\u00a0marrying him in 2018.
