If it is a day that ends in \u201cy,\u201d some rapper<\/a>, celebrity<\/a>, or media member <\/a>likely has something to say about the state <\/a>of Hip-Hop. This time, it was Benny The Butcher, who ranted about his dislike for how \u201cnerds\u201d now control the genre instead of \u201cthe streets.\u201d<\/p>\n The Buffalo rapper opened the front camera on Instagram Live and unloaded his thoughts. \u201cYo, y\u2019all see the state the game is in when the streets don\u2019t hold the culture or the game,\u201d the 40-year-old rapper said. \u201cNow you got the weird Twitter nerds and the nerds and all these weird motherf**kers got they hands on the culture.\u201d<\/p>\n The Griselda<\/a> member didn\u2019t fully look back on older Hip-Hop eras with rose-colored glasses, though. \u201cThe voice of the streets don\u2019t mean as much as it did when we was coming up. It was a lot of cons to that, as well. I gotta say that,\u201d he admitted. \u201cBut you see what happens when the streets don\u2019t control the game no more. It\u2019s a lot of f**k ni**a sh*t going on. And a lot of people are okay with it because they f**k ni**as.\u201d Watch the rant below.<\/p>\n Last year, Benny showed love to one of the most talented and respected street rappers of the past. \u201cThat ni**a [Lloyd Banks<\/a>] one of the top ni**as ever with bars,\u201d he said in a June 2024 video. \u201cThat\u2019s one rap ni**a ni**as don\u2019t play with. It\u2019s certain rap ni**as ni**as don\u2019t play with.
