In the game of love, Earvin \u201cMagic\u201d Johnson<\/span><\/a><\/strong> knows he won big with his wife, Cookie Johnson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s my best friend besides being my wife,\u201d Magic, 66, shared exclusively with Us Weekly<\/i> at the HollyRod Foundation\u2019s<\/span><\/a> 2025 DesignCare Gala on Saturday, October 4. \u201cCookie is a caretaker and she takes care of myself, our kids, our grandchildren and all of her friends. She\u2019s a woman of God, and it\u2019s a blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Magic and Cookie met as freshmen at Michigan State University in the late 1970s. The pair would later marry in September 1991.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been with her for 47 years and married for 34 years,\u201d Magic said. \u201cWe\u2019re business partners. It\u2019s everything rolled into one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJenni \u201cJWoww\u201d Farley, Jenny McCarthy and other celebrities haven\u2019t shied away from speaking about the ups and downs of raising their autistic children. The Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star revealed her and Roger Mathews\u2019 son Greyson\u2019s diagnosis in November 2018, which \u201ccaused a lot of tension\u201d in her relationship with her now-ex-husband. \u201cI took the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In September, Magic and Cookie, 66, celebrated their wedding anniversary with an intimate lunch at the Bel Air Hotel with some of their closest friends, including Sugar Ray Leonard<\/strong> and actress Vanessa Calloway<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At the time, both parties expressed gratitude for their love story that continues to grow year after year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love how our love is authentically our own, I enjoy every moment together, and I wouldn\u2019t have it any other way,\u201d Cookie wrote via Instagram<\/span><\/a> on September 14. \u201cHere\u2019s to our forever love!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Magic added<\/span><\/a>, \u201cA great celebration. Awesome food, awesome presentation, and the outside patio was fabulous! It made our 34th anniversary something to remember!\u201d<\/p>\n

Before supporting close friends Holly Robinson Peete<\/strong><\/a> and Rodney Peete<\/strong>\u2019s annual charity event \u2014 which raises funds to provide compassionate care to those living with autism and Parkinson\u2019s disease \u2014 Cookie reflected on the early days of her romance with Magic.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, I think I fell in love with the fact that Earvin is a gentleman. He was raised right,\u201d she told Us <\/i>at NYA EAST in Los Angeles. \u201cEven when we were in college, he opened doors for you. He treated me well. He spoils me rotten. And that\u2019s one thing I\u2019ve always admired about him.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also respects her husband for being such a \u201chard worker\u201d and never believing in giving up.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen somebody knocks you down, he just gets right back up and he looks forward and figures it out from there,\u201d Cookie gushed. \u201cThe rest of us are still down there crying going, \u2018Why did they do that? Why me?\u2019 And he\u2019s like, \u2018It\u2019s done. We\u2019re moving forward. Let\u2019s figure it out.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

While Magic and Cookie were happy to gush about each other, they were thrilled to praise Holly, 61, and Rodney, 59, for their philanthropic work with the HollyRod Foundation.<\/p>\n
