Taylor Swift is leaning into the chaos of mixed reactions to her latest album.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Life of a Showgirl\u201d dropped last Thursday and reviews swung from shout-from-the-rooftops praise to muted disappointment. While talking with Zane Lowe, the artist addressed the wide-ranging opinions by saying she was good with it all.<\/p>\n

And what I often love seeing my fans say is, \u2018I used to be someone who didn\u2019t relate to\u00a0\u2018Reputation.\u2019 And now that I\u2019ve been through some other things in my life, that\u2019s my favorite album.\u2019 Or, \u2018I used to be a\u00a0\u2018Fearless\u2019\u00a0girlie, now I\u2019m obsessed with\u00a0\u2018Evermore.\u201d We\u2019re doing this thing for keeps. I have such an eye on legacy when I\u2019m making my music. I know what I made. I know I adore it, and I know that on the theme of what the\u00a0\u2018Showgirl\u2019\u00a0is, all of this is part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/a><\/figure>\n The album, which Swift co-produced with former \u201c1989\u201d and \u201cReputation\u201d collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, is a 12-track return to more upbeat pop after 2024\u2019s \u201cThe Tortured Poet\u2019s Department.\u201d Critical reception was largely positive with Rolling Stone, NPR, New York Times and Billboard all giving \u201cShowgirl\u201d glowing marks. The Guardian and The Financial Times were more critical of Swift\u2019s 12th album.<\/p>\n Similarly, fans waffled between loving the artist\u2019s return to pop while others cried out for the lyricism that made \u201cEvermore\u201d and \u201cFolklore\u201d such a hit. The discussion online has predictably been more impassioned and divided.
