Seth Meyers<\/a> called out Donald Trump<\/a> for flip-flopping on Monday after the president initially flagged an \u201cunprecedented opportunity\u201d<\/a> to target \u201cDemocrat Agencies\u201d and to lay off Democrat federal workers in the government shutdown<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAlright, first of all, what do you mean, Democrat agencies? Is there a Federal Department of Wokeness I\u2019m not aware of?\u201d quipped the \u201cLate Night\u201d host.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Meyers, after playing a supercut of right-wingers \u201ccrowing\u201d about the shutdown, highlighted a Washington Post poll<\/a> showing that more Americans blame Trump and congressional Republicans<\/a> for the shutdown than Democrats<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He went on to argue that Trump suddenly \u201cchanged his tune\u201d on the possibility of layoffs before playing a clip of the president pinning the blame on Democrats for any such layoffs over the weekend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThey\u2019re Democrat layoffs, they\u2019re causing it. We\u2019re ready to go back,\u201d Trump. \u201cIt\u2019s up to them. Anybody laid off, that\u2019s because of the Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Meyers swiftly slammed the president over his 180.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThis is the world we\u2019re living in, the same guy who said he loves the shutdown because it lets him fire Democrats\u2019 also says the shutdown is the Democrats fault because he has to fire people,\u201d Meyers said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHe\u2019s talking about this shutdown the way Sm\u00e9agol talks about the One Ring.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
