Johnson, in an interview with People magazine<\/a> over the weekend, explained that the show puts \u201cthe pressure on you\u201d and noted that you can\u2019t leave \u201cSNL<\/a>\u201d \u2014 which she described as a \u201cdifferent monster\u201d and a \u201cdifferent beast\u201d \u2014 and do the same things you did before.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIt\u2019s very hard to understand a place like that,\u201d Johnson said of \u201cSNL,\u201d where she spent four seasons before her exit last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThey just throw you in the water \u2014 you better know how to swim. They don\u2019t give you no life jacket,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Johnson, who told the \u201cFly on the Wall\u201d podcast<\/a> that she left the show as she didn\u2019t feel like she fit, said she had to figure out the difference between doing \u201csomething really great\u201d and just going \u201cthrough the motions\u201d to determine what\u2019s next for her career.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n She credits her time on the show for building something \u201cstrong\u201d inside her, adding that she feels she can take on anything in Hollywood as she \u201chandled every piece of adversity that went on in that building.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Troast, who was part of the Season 49 cast before producers asked her not to return<\/a> for another season, told People that it was \u201creally hard\u201d to adjust after the show \u201cfundamentally changed\u201d her life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cYou don\u2019t get a cushion when you fall,\u201d said Troast, who credited her loved ones for their support after her \u201cSNL\u201d departure.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cEven before the show, they were the ones that were a guiding light, and so then that\u2019s what I looked to after.
