The first member of the Royal Family to openly disclose her autism diagnosis has announced she will begin studying for a PhD.<\/p>\n
Flora Vesterberg, the granddaughter of Princess Alexandra, Queen Elizabeth II’s 88-year-old cousin, opened up about her diagnosis earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Now, the 62nd-in-line to the throne has opened up about undertaking a PhD at The Courtauld.<\/p>\n
Writing on Instagram, Mrs Vesterberg said: “I\u2019m looking forward to beginning my PhD at @courtauld this month. <\/p>\n
“My focus will be on elevating Nordic Impressionism and so I\u2019ll be spending more time in Scandinavia. <\/p>\n
“As my research evolves, I\u2019ll share more about my findings and the process itself. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mrs Vesterberg was born Flora Ogilvy; she is the eldest child and only daughter of James Ogilvy and Julia Caroline Rawlinson.<\/p>\n
James Ogilvy’s mother, Princess Alexandra, married Sir Angus Ogilvy in 1963 at Westminster Abbey.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In her youth, Mrs Vesterberg would often appear on the balcony during Trooping the Colour and at royal weddings.<\/p>\n
For example, she made the guest list at Lady Gabriella Windsor’s wedding to Thomas Kingston in 2019.<\/p>\n
Mrs Vesterberg was also present alongside the royal contingent at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.<\/p>\n
In 2020, she walked down the aisle to marry Timothy Vesterberg, an investment banker from Sweden who currently holds the position of Principal at H.I.G. Capital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The pair tied the knot at The Chapel Royal of St James’s Palace, the same venue where Queen Victoria married Prince Albert in 1840.<\/p>\n
Mr and Mrs Vesterberg stepped out at Westminster Cathedral last month for the funeral of Katharine, Duchess of Kent.<\/p>\n
The late Duchess was married to Prince Edward, Duke of Kent – Princess Alexandra’s older brother.<\/p>\n
This makes Mrs Vesterberg a great-niece of Prince Edward and Katharine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The 30-year-old has a master’s degree from The Courtauld Institute of Art, where she subsequently joined the Campaign Board.<\/p>\n
This consists of prominent philanthropists and advisors tasked with raising \u00a350million for the transformation of the Somerset House campus.<\/p>\n
Mrs Vesterberg is known for her commitment to education and co-chairs the Young Patrons’ Circle of the Victoria and Albert Museum.<\/p>\n
