When Eleanor Livingston of Die Spitz appears on a video conference call to discuss the band\u2019s upcoming tour in support of their new album \u201cSomething to Consume,\u201d she turns on the camera to reveal Chloe De St. Aubin sticking her tongue out, Kate Halter throwing up a peace sign and Ava Schrobilgen giving a nod to say what\u2019s up from the back of a car.<\/p>\n
The gestures from the Austin-based four-piece reveal the frivolous and playful nature of the group, which precedes their reputation for comedic music videos and the time they accidentally let an inside joke, about being signed to the \u201cPoopbutt\u201d label, become a real part of their bio on streaming platforms.<\/p>\n
However, one should not take the group\u2019s silly antics and musicians\u2019 early 20s personas at face value; after all, their band name translates to \u201cthe pointed\u201d in German. Their first full-length album, released on the very real label of Jack White\u2019s Third Man Records, lives up to the name, complete with razor-sharp metal guitar riffs and jagged, punk-fueled chord progressions, proving them to be one of the fiercest up-and-coming bands.<\/p>\n
Die Spitz will perform their new music and other hits at their tour stops at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles on Oct. 16, the Soda Bar in San Diego on Oct. 17 and the Constellation Room in Santa Ana on Oct. 18.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope that the album brings us into new segments of the music world, and brings in more listeners than the demographic that we\u2019ve had so far,\u201d Halter said. \u201cThe album is much more complex compared to the other two EPs that we\u2019ve released and has a lot more diversity of genres and vibes.\u201d<\/p>\n
