Dolly Parton<\/a> wants everyone know she\u2019s fine and \u201cnot dying.\u201d<\/p>\n An odd thing to have to say, yes. But the country music icon, actress, activist and humanitarian posted a video to social media<\/a> on Wednesday to clear up rumors that had been going around to the contrary.<\/p>\n \u201cI wanted to say, I know lately everybody thinks that I\u2019m sicker than I am,\u201d Parton, 79, said in the video from a set where she was filming a commercial for the Grand Ole Opry. \u201cDo I look sick to you? I\u2019m workin\u2019 hard here.\u201d<\/p>\n Dressed in a red and black fringe top, the \u201c9 to 5\u201d star added that she \u201cwanted to put everybody\u2019s mind at ease\u201d because many seemed \u201creal concerned, which I appreciate.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I appreciate your prayers because I\u2019m a person of faith. I can always use the prayers for anything and everything, but I want you to know that I\u2019m ok,\u201d she added in the video, which was captioned \u201cI ain\u2019t dead yet!\u201d<\/p>\n Parton went on to acknowledge that she\u2019s had \u201csome problems\u201d health-wise, which she had mentioned last month when she canceled a series of December concerts<\/a> in Las Vegas. She then elaborated on the reasons behind those issues.<\/p>\n \u201cBack when my husband Carl was very sick \u2013 that was for a long time \u2013 and then when he passed, I didn\u2019t take care of myself,\u201d she said. \u201cSo I let a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of. So, anyway, when I got around to it, the doctor said \u2018We need to take care of this, we need to take care of that.\u2019 Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home.\u201d<\/p>\n Parton\u2019s husband of nearly 60 years Carl Dean died in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n Heightened concerns about Parton\u2019s health were spurred on Tuesday, when her sister Freida posted to Facebook<\/a> that she\u2019d been \u201cup all night praying\u201d for the \u201cJolene\u201d singer.<\/p>\n \u201cMany of you know she hasn\u2019t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me,\u201d Freida Parton\u2019s post read. \u201cShe\u2019s strong, she\u2019s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she\u2019s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!\u201d<\/p>\n Mass panic ensued, reasonably.<\/p>\n But someone apparently had words with Freida, because she went back<\/a> on Facebook later to tell everyone that she didn\u2019t intend for her words to spark worry. \u201cI didn\u2019t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly,\u201d she wrote. \u201cIt was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.\u201d<\/p>\n Later, another Parton sister appeared. This one was named Stella. \u201cMy sister Freida is always concerned when one of her siblings isn\u2019t feeling well so she ask for prayers on Dolly\u2019s behalf,\u201d she explained. She then went on to say she was mad about being asked for health updates on her sister.<\/p>\n Fans were on particularly high alert because this call for prayers came soon after the death of Parton\u2019s husband. The death of a long-term spouse has been associated with<\/a> illness and even death in the surviving partner.<\/p>\n Late last month, Parton announced<\/a> that she was postoning her December concerts in Las Vegas due to some \u201chealth challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n She added that she had been told by doctors she had to undergo \u201ca few procedures,\u201d without elaborating further.<\/p>\n \u201cGiven this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see,\u201d she wrote at the time.<\/p>\n Parton was set to perform six shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in December in her first Las Vegas residency in more than 30 years<\/a>. Those concerts were rescheduled for September 2026.<\/p>\n Parton is one of the most-beloved musicians \u2013 likely even one of the most-beloved people \u2013 in the world.<\/p>\n She is a long-time best-selling songwriter and performer and actor. Her charitable works<\/a> include helping underwrite<\/a> Moderna\u2019s vaccine for COVID-19. Her program that sends books<\/a> to children has changed an untold number of lives; the Louisville chapter alone noted recently<\/a> that it had just mailed its 500,000th book to a child.<\/p>\n In her video on Wednesday, Parton said she hoped that if her admirers \u201cheard it from me, you\u2019d know that I was ok.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not ready to die yet.
