On October 8, the beloved country queen, 79, took to Instagram<\/a> to reassure worried fans that she\u2019s \u201cnot ready to die yet\u201d following weeks of speculation about her health.<\/p>\n \u201cToday\u2019s October the 8th and obviously I\u2019m here,\u201d a dressed-up Parton began, cheerfully, while seated on-set of a Grand Ole Opry commercial shoot. \u201cI wanted to say I know lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I\u2019m working hard here!\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cJolene\u201d hitmaker confided that her health woes stemmed from the emotional toll of losing her husband, Carl Dean<\/b>, earlier this year.<\/p>\n \u201cBack when my husband Carl was very sick, that was for a long time,\u201d she shared. \u201cAnd then when he passed I didn\u2019t take care of myself, so I let a lot of things go. The doctor said, \u2018We need to take care of this, we need to take care of that.\u2019 Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home, closer to Vanderbilt where I\u2019m kind of having some treatments here and there.\u201d<\/p>\n The singer could be referring to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in her home state in Tennessee. A few days later she announced that she would postpone her highly anticipated six-show Las Vegas residency<\/a> due to unspecified health issues.<\/p>\n On October 7, the singer\u2019s younger sister, Freida, further worried fans when she asked them for prayers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n
