Last Friday, when Taylor Swift<\/a> dropped her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl<\/a><\/em>, she revealed to the world quite a lot about her relationship with fianc\u00e9 Travis Kelce<\/a>\u2014perhaps even more than we ever thought we\u2019d learn about the NFL tight end.<\/p>\n

One of the most notable tracks in the album is \u201cWood,\u201d<\/a> a funky, sexy number in which Swift says she has finally given up on superstitions when it comes to love. And yes, the title does intentionally function as a double entendre. \u201cRedwood tree, it ain\u2019t hard to see\/His love was the key that opened my thighs,\u201d she sings. \u201cI don\u2019t need to catch the bouquet\/To know a hard rock is on the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

So what did Kelce think about such a brazen song that seems to clearly… sing his praises? Well, that\u2019s exactly what his brother Jason asked him on the latest episode of their podcast, New Heights<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you feel\u2026 do you feel\u2014not confident\u2014do you feel cocky about the song \u2018Wood\u2019?\u201d Jason asked his younger brother on the episode that came out this very morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d Travis responded. \u201cAny song that she references me in is very…\u201d<\/p>\n

But Jason cut him off: \u201cThat\u2019s not just any song. This is a very specific you.\u201d (The allusions to Kelce are pretty obvious, even down to the fact that Swift makes a reference to the New Heights<\/em> podcast, which she was a guest<\/a> in just a couple of months ago.)<\/p>\n

Travis still tried to play it coy: \u201cI love that girl, so what do you mean? Any song that she would reference me in that way…\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Jason didn\u2019t back down, arguing that the song is clearly about an appendage\u2014to which Travis joked: \u201cI think you\u2019re not understanding the song.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJesus Christ. Travis, come on,\u201d Jason said. \u201c\u2018Redwood tree ain\u2019t hard to see.\u2019 I thought: Redwood<\/em>? That\u2019s a little bit\u2014that\u2019s a generous word, I think. I think if somebody wrote a song about me, it\u2019d be like, \u2018Japanese maple sometimes can see.\u2019 I have more of an ornamental tree.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Kansas City Chiefs player wouldn\u2019t let up though, simply calling the track a \u201cgreat song,\u201d to which Jason agreed. \u201cThe freaking beat to that song is fantastic and that\u2019s right up my alley, so well done,\u201d Jason said. \u201cI think it\u2019s a great song.\u201d<\/p>\n

There are a number of tracks on The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> that seem to clearly be about Travis, from lead single \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia\u201d to other tracks like \u201cOpalite,\u201d \u201cWi$h Li$t,\u201d and \u201cHoney.\u201d However, none of them are quite as cheeky as \u201cWood.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the short film she released this past weekend, called The Official Release Party of a Showgirl<\/a><\/em>, Swift tries to play the song off as something innocent. \u201cWhat is the song about? Superstitions,\u201d she says. \u201cUm, very popular superstitions\u2014knocking on wood, black cats, stepping on a crack… And things like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nice try, but she can\u2019t fool us, or Jason Kelce.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
