KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) \u2014 A new show coming to ABC could mean more career and tourism development, according to Visit Knoxville. <\/p>\n
The show \u201c9-1-1: Nashville\u201d is set to film an episode in Knoxville this fall,<\/a> becoming the largest production to come to our area.\u00a0While the Visit Knoxville Film Office said Knoxville is already on the map for film production, this big of a project coming to Knoxville could mean much more for the future. <\/p>\n \u201cSince 2014, we\u2019ve had probably 20 or so feature films come through, the Burt Reynolds film<\/a> back in the day, but this would be probably the largest,\u201d said Curt Willis, Senior Director of the Film Office.<\/p>\n Dolly Parton reassures fans on health \u2018I ain\u2019t dead yet!\u2019 <\/a><\/p>\n Willis said the Film Office strengthens Knoxville\u2019s economy through the promotion of the City as a premiere filming location. <\/p>\n \u201cWhat we\u2019re hoping is this is going to open up doors to bigger projects coming here on a more regular basis,\u201d said Willis. \u201cIt\u2019s obviously a great way to showcase Knoxville to millions of people, so we think it\u2019s a win-win proposition.\u201d <\/p>\n Not only will this bring Knoxville to more people\u2019s living rooms, but it will also show how film industry is\u00a0cut out for bigger projects, said Visit Knoxville President Kim Bumpass. <\/p>\n Agreement extended to keep Great Smoky Mountains National Park open during government shutdown <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cAs far as a primetime TV show, I really think not only is it fantastic that Knoxville will be a character and it\u2019ll showcase all the great reasons why people might want to visit Knoxville or be curious about Knoxville, but it will also kind of lay the groundwork to show what we can do here in Knoxville as it relates to hosting and accommodating a huge production crew,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n Willis said it\u2019s not just a fun cameo either, landing projects like this bring more visitors in and create more opportunities for actors, filmmakers, even caterers for when they are here. <\/p>\n Knoxville named top city for moviemakers as area film industry grow <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cSo the economic impact for projects like this, a series like this on a city, it\u2019s huge,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean Nashville had \u201cNashville,\u201d they have this now, and they\u2019re going to see a huge economic impact as well as it makes a very large impact on tourism as well.\u201d <\/p>\n This is why hosting the crew here could be the beginning of more jobs and tourism in Knoxville. <\/p>\n \u201cHopefully the people that we\u2019re working with, when they have something else coming down the pipe, they will consider Knoxville\u00a0for the next project,\u201d said Willis. <\/p>\n When it comes to productions in Knoxville, next month the film office is hosting the third annual \u201cFILM FEST KNOX,\u201d which highlights both regional and local filmmaking competitions and workshops. <\/p>\n
