The first-ever celebrity edition of The Traitors<\/a> is set to begin tonight, with plenty of backstabbing and sleuthing promised in the hit BBC show. <\/p>\n

An all-star version of the game-show phenomenon will see 19 famous faces enter the castle in the Scottish Highlands<\/a>, where host Claudia Winkleman<\/a> will decide whether they\u2019re playing as a faithful or a traitor.<\/p>\n

The lucky players who survive to the end of the game have the chance of winning up to \u00a3100,000 for their chosen charity. The exact figure of the prize money will depend on how they perform in missions throughout the series, where the total sum of money can change.<\/p>\n

Those taking part in the unique series include QI host Stephen Fry, singer Paloma Faith, comedian Alan Carr, Olympic gold medallist Tom Daley and broadcaster Kate Garraway.<\/p>\n

Speaking to journalists, ahead of the debut episode, Winkleman said: \u201cYou think you know these people, and then you watch them play this game, and I was awestruck by the way they played it – with empathy, with wit and with real smarts.”<\/p>\n

The series will consist of nine hour-long episodes and begins with a special 70 minute episode, launching on BBC One at 9pm on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

We all know that in order to win The Traitors, you need to be a good judge of character and realise that no one is above suspicion. To date, the Faithfuls have done this with tremendous results<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Of the three regular Traitors series that the BBC has aired, only one has been won by a traitor. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This happened in season two when young Harry Clark deceived everyone and claimed the jackpot all for himself. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Comedian Alan Carr admitted that he doesn\u2019t have a strategy for Celebrity Traitors but is looking forward to being immersed into the game itself.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWell people have asked, would you like to be a Traitor? And the answer is, I don’t know,\u201d he told the BBC. \u201cI’m fascinated to know how I would cope with it if I was. I’m not known for my poker face, but you’ve just got to adapt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI’m indecisive, and that’s the problem, he added. \u201cBut I think that’s probably good because I\u2019d say it\u2019s best to have an open mind. If I’m a Traitor, I\u2019ll try to murder as many people as possible. If I’m a Faithful, I’ll try and catch those Traitors. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Claire Balding interested in Celebrity Traitors from a ‘psychological perspective’<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the BBC ahead of the launch sports broadcaster Claire Balding said that one of the biggest appeals of starring on Celebrity Traitors was its psychological aspect.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI really find it fascinating, the way group thinking can be influenced,\u201d said the 54-year-old. \u201cI don’t know whether I can resist that or whether I can influence that and I’m kind of interested in it from a psychological perspective.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Celebrity Traitors has royal approval<\/h3>\n

The Prince of Wales and his family are \u201cvery much looking forward\u201d to watching The Celebrity Traitors, which is going to be a \u201cbig treat\u201d for them, he told TV executive Stephen Lambert as he was honoured at Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lambert, the founder and chief executive of Studio Lambert \u2013 the production company behind The Traitors, was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When speaking to the BBC ahead of the show\u2019s launch<\/a>, former QI host and Blackadder star Fry was asked if he was looking forward to the missions, which typically tend to be physically demanding group activities based around the lake or the woods at the show\u2019s filming location in the Scottish highlands.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very hard to say,\u201d the 68-year-old said. \u201cSome of them may be tedious, like being back at school, forced into compulsory physical education.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He added: \u201cIt will be interesting to see if we can work together. I’m sure we’ll get very excited if we manage to accomplish something.
