Renowned music journalist and Hot Press<\/em> contributor Stuart Bailie<\/a> has launched a crowdfunding campaign ahead of his upcoming music book The Song is Nearly Over<\/em> (out November 6).<\/p>\n The Belfast author has crosses paths with a number of prominent figures in the music industry, including Nina Simone<\/a>, Bj\u00f6rk<\/a>, Sin\u00e9ad O\u2019Connor<\/a>, Dave Grohl<\/a>, Tom Waits<\/a> and Shane MacGowan<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Song is Nearly Over\u00a0<\/em>is a collection of stories that Bailie has complied after 40 years in the business. The book is described as having “insights and shenanigans, a record of fast times in popular culture,” according to a statement.<\/p>\n “He charts the rise of Radiohead<\/a> and messy times with Oasis<\/a>. There is road fever with Primal Scream<\/a> and U2<\/a>. The Manic Street Preachers<\/a> suffer pain and achieve transcendence. Stuart documents a passing era of access and friction, critique and acclaim.”<\/p>\n Bailie’s other works include 2018’s Trouble Songs: Music and Conflict in Northern Ireland<\/em>, Terri Hooley: Seventy-Five Revolutions<\/em> (2023), 75 Van Songs<\/em> (2020) and The Ballad of the Thin Man: The Authorised Biography of Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy<\/em> (1997).<\/p>\n Additionally, he is the co-founder Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast.<\/p>\n The Song is Nearly Over<\/em>‘s book launch will take place at Deer\u2019s Head, Belfast on November 6. The event will include appearances from Ash<\/a>‘s\u00a0Tim Wheeler<\/a> and Terri Hooley<\/a>.<\/p>\n
