Rosie O\u2019Donnell<\/a> has confirmed that she is in the process of getting her Irish citizenship amid President Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> repeated threats<\/a> to revoke her U.S. citizenship. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI am applying and about to be approved for my Irish citizenship as my grandparents were from there and that\u2019s all you need,\u201d the comedian said in a new interview<\/a> with The Daily Telegraph<\/a>, published on Monday<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

O\u2019Donnell added, \u201cIt will be good to have my Irish citizenship, especially since Trump keeps threatening to take away mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The White House, of course, found the news thrilling. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Trump first threatened<\/a> to take away O\u2019Donnell\u2019s citizenship in July, as he called the \u201cA League of Their Own\u201d actor a \u201cthreat to humanity.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBecause of the fact that Rosie O\u2019Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cShe is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He once again threatened O\u2019Donnell\u2019s citizenship in September, alongside a digitally altered photo of the comedian. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAs previously mentioned, we are giving serious thought to taking away Rosie O\u2019Donnell\u2019s Citizenship,\u201d Trump wrote on his social network, Truth Social<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShe is not a Great American and is, in my opinion, incapable of being so!\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Paul A. Gowder<\/a>, a professor of law at Northwestern University\u2019s Pritzker School of Law, previously told celebrity.land<\/a> that Trump\u2019s citizenship threats are \u201cunadulterated dictator behavior\u201d and \u201ca familiar practice of authoritarians.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHe seems to view it not as an inalienable right but as a status that he can grant and take away at will, a meaningless instrument of his personal public policy,\u201d Gowder added. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
