Slash is once again giving fans hope that a new Guns N\u2019 Roses album is in the works.<\/p>\n
In a recent interview<\/a> with Guitar World<\/em><\/a> magazine, the guitarist said that the band has plenty of music to work with and that while a new album is \u201ccoming,\u201d there is still no release date in sight.<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s so much material at this point \u2014 it\u2019s a matter of having the discipline to sit down and fucking get into it,\u201d said Slash. \u201cBut the thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead. You can never sit down and go, \u2018We\u2019re going to take this time, and we\u2019re going to do this.\u2019 Every time we\u2019ve done that, it falls apart.\u201d<\/p>\n The musician also shared some insight into the group\u2019s creative process: \u201cIt just spontaneously happens through some sort of inspiration that triggers it. And the next thing you know, it\u2019s off and running.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo it\u2019s coming. I know it\u2019s coming because everybody is thinking about it,\u201d he added. \u201cIt\u2019ll just happen when it happens.\u201d<\/p>\n A representative for Slash and Guns N\u2019 Roses did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n Last year, when speaking to the Daily Star <\/em>(via Music News<\/a><\/em>) about his solo album, Orgy Of The Damned<\/em>, Slash was asked why the record didn\u2019t feature bandmate Axl Rose or the Conspirators collaborator Myles Kennedy. \u201cIt was my own side thing, so I wasn\u2019t dragging my own guys in,\u201d said Slash at the time, before sharing that the band was working on a new project. \u201cGuns N\u2019 Roses are trying to make their own record and I\u2019m working with them in that capacity but this didn\u2019t involve anyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n Bassist Duff McKagan has also hinted at upcoming music<\/a> in the past. In 2019, when speaking to Trunk Nation, McKagan said that following their massively successful Not in This Lifetime reunion tour<\/a>, which saw Slash and McKagan return after nearly two decades, the band had an LP in the works.<\/p>\n \u201cOh, it\u2019s real, but the fun part and the cool part about Guns N\u2019 Roses is we don\u2019t really talk about it, and what happens next just happens,\u201d McKagan said of the new album.<\/p>\n The year prior, guitarist Richard Fortus told a St. Louis newspaper that a new Guns N\u2019 Roses album could arrive \u201cfaster than you think.\u201d<\/p>\n While eager fans have patiently waited for a followup to 2008\u2019s Chinese Democracy<\/em> \u2014 and the first Guns N\u2019 Roses record with both McKagan and Slash since 1993\u2019s The Spaghetti Incident?<\/em> \u2014 it appears that they\u2019ll need to hang on for just a bit (or much) longer.<\/p>\n Best of Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n Sign up for RollingStone’s Newsletter<\/a>.
