Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> is not only open to the idea of Donald Trump<\/a> appearing on his late-night show<\/a>, but he has also said he will \u201cask\u201d the President himself if he\u2019s interested.<\/p>\n The late-night host spoke on the matter on Wednesday (October 8) at the Bloomberg Screentime event in Hollywood. On whether he\u2019d asked Trump or FCC chairman Brendan Carr to come on the show since returning to air following his temporary suspension, Kimmel said he hasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n \u201cI wouldn\u2019t necessarily be interested in Brendan Carr on the show,\u201d he said. \u201cBut yeah, I\u2019d love to have Trump on the show, for sure. I mean, I feel like he knows that if\u2026 he wants, I dunno\u2026 alright, I\u2019ll ask him.\u201d<\/p>\n On September 17, ABC and Disney pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> off the air<\/a> amid backlash over comments the comedian made on-air about the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk<\/a>. This came after powerful station group Nexstar announced it would preempt the show on its 32 ABC affiliate stations. Sinclair soon followed suit.<\/p>\n Earlier in the day, Carr made thinly veiled threats when he told right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson<\/a>, \u201cWe can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct and take actions on Kimmel, or there\u2019s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n At the time, Trump celebrated Kimmel\u2019s suspension,<\/a> blasting the late-night host as unfunny and untalented, and claiming ABC had \u201cfired\u201d him due to poor ratings. Kimmel returned to TV on September 22 after Disney and ABC ended the suspension amid backlash over censoring free speech<\/a> and threats to boycott the company.<\/a><\/p>\n At the Bloomberg Screentime event, Kimmel admitted he thought his show was over for good once it was taken off the air.<\/p>\n \u201cThe idea that I would not have 40 affiliates, I was like, \u2018Well, that\u2019s it.\u2019 Because there seemed to be a list of demands presented to me and I was not going to go along with any of them,\u201d he said, per Variety<\/em><\/a>, referring to Sinclair\u2019s list of demands, which included an apology.<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cSo it\u2019s was like, \u2018Well, I guess we\u2019re done.\u2019 I said to my wife, \u2018That\u2019s it. It\u2019s over.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
