Ryan Reynolds<\/strong> recalled a \u201cprofound\u201d musing Conan O\u2019Brien<\/strong> once told him about making people happy.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe talks about people-pleasing and pleasers in Hollywood,\u201d Reynolds, 48, said during an event for John Candy: I Like Me<\/em> in Brooklyn on Wednesday, October 8, according to People<\/em><\/a>. \u201cAnd Bill Murray<\/strong> says it too. You just can\u2019t \u2014 it doesn\u2019t work.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cAnd what I found really fascinating about that is \u2026 being a people-pleaser is, quite literally, antithetical to having a mental-health crisis or issue.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Deadpool<\/em> star, people-pleasers tend to not \u201cwant to burden anyone with anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only way out is to center yourself, and to the people-pleaser that\u2019s [difficult],\u201d Reynolds said. \u201cSo it\u2019s a paradox that is fascinating to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to People<\/em>, Reynolds previously opened up about his own struggles with people-pleasing and mental health during the Toronto Film Festival premiere<\/a> of the John Candy<\/strong> documentary.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey don\u2019t coexist very well together at all \u2026 You never want to be a problem for anybody else,\u201d he said, adding of the late Uncle Buck<\/em> star, \u201cI feel for that guy struggling through that for so long at a period where it was just starting to be acceptable to talk about it a little bit more.\u201d<\/p>\n
