Wendell Pierce<\/strong> revealed if Suits<\/em><\/a> daughter Meghan Markle<\/strong><\/a> reacted to his CBS show Elsbeth<\/em> finding a way to defend her against public criticism.<\/p>\n

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em> at the Elsbeth season 3 premiere on Wednesday, October 8, Pierce, 61, noted that Markle, 44, hasn\u2019t shared her thoughts yet, saying, \u201cNo, I haven\u2019t. I haven\u2019t heard from her [about that scene] but it\u2019s always great to have a little Easter egg like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pierce wouldn\u2019t be surprised if Markle<\/a> was aware of the show of support.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know she gets to see those things because the last time I did see her, she referenced all the other times I mentioned her,\u201d he shared. \u201cSo I know she got to see it. It\u2019s a great little Easter egg to just let her know that we\u2019re thinking about her.\u201d<\/p>\n

A scene from a January episode<\/a> of the show followed Elsbeth (Carrie Preston<\/strong>) as she investigated a holistic wellness center after a patient was found dead in his car. Elsbeth immediately got a bad feeling about the facility\u2019s founder (Eric McCormack<\/strong>) after getting the case assignment from Captain Wagner (Pierce).<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the meantime, I need you on a case. A young man, Cole Campbell, was found deceased on the highway. His car ran off the road,\u201d Captain Wagner said. \u201cThe last place he was seen was some fancy spa where celebrities and the royals go to.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wagner poked fun at the wellness center\u2019s popularity, adding, \u201cThe global press was already trying to frame Meghan Markle, and she wasn\u2019t even there!\u201d<\/p>\n

Before starring on Elsbeth<\/em>, Pierce played Markle\u2019s dad on Suits<\/em>, which ran from 2011 to 2019. Markle filmed her final scene for Suits in 2017 amid her engagement to Prince Harry. She later departed the series, moved to the U.K. and married the Duke of Sussex, 41, in 2018.<\/p>\n

Pierce, meanwhile, previously recalled the last time he filmed a scene with Markle.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the last night of working and I said, \u2018Meghan, your life is going to change, and you\u2019re going to be in a bubble, but just always remember, no matter what, I\u2019m your friend, you have lots of friends,’\u201d he recalled on Who\u2019s Talking to Chris Wallace? in March 2024. \u201c\u2018We\u2019re always thinking about you, we\u2019ll always be there for you. And you know, no matter where you are, always know you have a friend in me.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor is now focused on his role in Elsbeth<\/em>, which is returning for a third season on Sunday, October 12. Elsbeth<\/em> will premiere alongside Matlock<\/em> after several cast members told Us about their vision for a crossover.<\/p>\n

\u201cElsbeth is right there. Not only are we on the same night, it\u2019s the world of law. I just think it would be so fun,\u201d Jason Ritter<\/strong> told Us<\/em> in September. \u201cI love Carrie Preston so much and I think she\u2019s brilliant. I would love to see that Elsbeth energy on an episode of Matlock \u2014 or some of us over in an episode of Elsbeth.\u201d<\/p>\n
