<\/p>\n Fanfare, Southeastern Louisiana University\u2019s annual fall festival of the arts, humanities and social sciences, will present a movie screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Back by popular demand, the event is scheduled at Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts in downtown Hammond, Oct. 18, at 9 p.m. Tickets are available at the Columbia Theatre box office.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n HAMMOND —<\/strong> Events surrounding music, theatre, and a movie screening are scheduled during the upcoming week of the 40th season of Fanfare, Southeastern Louisiana University\u2019s annual fall festival of the arts, humanities and social sciences.<\/p>\n On Oct. 15, at 12:30 p.m., the History and Political Science Department will present the next Fanfare lecture in the series. Scheduled in the Student Union Theatre, the lecture, titled \u201cThe Evil God and the New Testament: How Marcion Shaped Early Christian Scripture,\u201d will be given by Adam Meier of Northshore Technical Community College.<\/p>\n A Southeastern alumnus, Meier will discuss Marcion of Sinope, a second century Christian theologian with the radical belief that the God of the Hebrew scriptures was a wrathful deity binding humanity to a harsh law, while Jesus was the vehicle by which a separate loving God offered salvation. Marcion was the first to develop an authoritative list of scripture for the early Church and served as a catalyst for Orthodox Christians to take seriously what is canon.<\/p>\n Also on Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. is a free concert by the Southeastern Jazz Ensemble. Titled \u201cClassics with a Twist,\u201d the concert will be held in Pottle Music Building Recital Hall. Audience members will enjoy an evening of jazz with a full big band, featuring classics by Duke Ellington and Sammy Nestico, as well as twists on some classic favorites.<\/p>\n Scheduled Oct. 16, at 8:30 p.m., is a concert by the Southeastern Gospel Choir. Titled \u201cLate Night Shift Homecoming Concert,\u201d the performance will be held in Pottle Auditorium and is free and open to the public. Audience members will enjoy a night of fellowship and music and experience the sounds of worship and celebration featuring voices united in faith and joy.<\/p>\n A special theatre presentation titled \u201cThe Graveyard Girls\u201d is scheduled Oct. 17 \u2013 19 with start times of 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Held at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts in downtown Hammond, the production features an original score composed by Voice of the Enemy\u2019s Hayden Kimball, is written by Columbia Theatre\u2019s Resident Playwright Tommy Jamerson, and is directed by Columbia Theatre\u2019s Artistic Director Jim Winter.<\/p>\n \u201cFour teenagers spend Halloween night telling spooky stories in a secluded cemetery.
