The White Lotus<\/a> breakout star Lukas Gage<\/a> has spilled the details on a hilarious story from early in his career!<\/p>\n Gage was on Live with Kelly and Mark this week to talk about how new memoir, I Wrote This for Attention<\/a>. While there, he also shared a story about a shirtless scene from his early acting days that went terribly wrong.<\/p>\n When Consuelos asked Gage, whose book comes out<\/a> on October 14, about his first acting job, Gage said it was a wart removal ad for Compound W. But it was another early acting story that really stood out.<\/p>\n “I was cast on the last season of Mad Men<\/a>,” Gage told the hosts.<\/p>\n Ripa then says she doesn’t remember him being on the show. There’s a good reason.<\/p>\n “Well, that’s because I got fired,” Gage said. “I walk on set, I see Kiernan Shipka<\/a>, who’s now one of my best friends, and they [the crew] see this giant tattoo on the whole side of my body while I’m going to be shirtless, playing a 15-year-old in the 50s.<\/p>\n “It wasn’t working, all odds were against me,” he added.<\/p>\n When Ripa asked if they could cover it with makeup, Gage said, “It wasn’t gonna work,” and that they “recast it real quick.”<\/p>\n “It was like one of the first jobs I got, I bragged to everyone about it, and then they said, ‘You’re going home,” he said. “But, if I didn’t book that job, I wouldn’t have booked the next couple things. Everything led to the right place.”<\/p>\n Gage said that he and Shipka now laugh about it, and she calls him “Tattoo Boy.” He then shared a heartwarming story about when Mad Men star Jon Hamm<\/a> spotted Gage catering at the Emmys the following year.<\/p>\n “He remembered me and gave me a hug, and said, “Everyone has to get fired once in their career.”<\/p>\n
