Still, I&#8217;ve been watching the shows since day one, through their highs and inevitable lows, right through to the latest conclusion in <em>Dexter: Resurrection<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">There was uproar, however, when <em>Resurrection<\/em>&#8216;s first season ended and it seemed Paramount had no plans to continue for a second season. Until now. In a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/syzDZLrt4yU\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:YouTube short video;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">YouTube short video<\/a> (watch below), Michael C Hall, who plays Dexter Morgan, confirmed a new season is now greenlit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He begins: &#8220;First of all I just want to thank all the fans for tuning in and taking the <em>Dexter: Resurrection<\/em> ride with us this summer. Hope you enjoyed it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Secondly&#8230; we&#8217;ve been greenlit for another season. There&#8217;s more to come!<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The writers&#8217; room is assembling now and details will be forthcoming \u2013 but I <em>[Michael C Hall]<\/em> wanted to be the first to let you know that the story continues&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\">Dexter: Original Sin trailer<\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\">So what&#8217;s the problem?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">I&#8217;m certainly stoked, as I didn&#8217;t necessarily see that coming. But Paramount would have been fools not to keep a good thing going. Just look at the ratings \u2013 on <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/tv\/dexter_resurrection\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Rotten Tomatoes the critics were generous with a rare 95% score;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Rotten Tomatoes the critics were generous with a rare 95% score<\/a>, with fans largely agreeing, scoring the show 90% on the same site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Indeed, <em>Dexter: Resurrection<\/em> was one of the key reasons I continued to pay for my Paramount+ subscription. I thought I was mad when I <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/articles\/did-unthinkable-subscribed-paramount-050500044.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:did the unthinkable and first subscribed to yet another streaming service;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">did the unthinkable and first subscribed to yet another streaming service<\/a>. But here we are, many shows later, and the likes of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.t3.com\/entertainment\/streaming\/guy-ritchie-killer-series-season-2-return\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:MobLand;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><em>MobLand<\/em><\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/articles\/sylvester-stallones-best-show-years-040000625.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Tulsa King;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\"><em>Tulsa King<\/em><\/a> have kept me locked in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">How the showrunners will move forward in <em>Resurrection<\/em> is still a mystery, though. Without giving away spoilers, let&#8217;s just say that the full cast of the first season can&#8217;t possibly remain for the second season. So something new and fresh has to follow \u2013 and I do hope that means a wide casting net for some intriguing new characters.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\">So what&#8217;s the problem?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So what&#8217;s my complaint? Well, preceding <em>Resurrection<\/em>&#8216;s airing was <em>Original Sin<\/em>, the prequel show. It followed a young Dexter, played by Patrick Gibson, as he grew up and learned to control his &#8216;dark passenger&#8217;. It was a fun, fresh take on the franchise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">And Paramount still hasn&#8217;t \u2013 and seemingly won&#8217;t \u2013 renew this show. Running both in tandem might not make great sense, I get that, but to miss out of Gibson&#8217;s take feels like a slip-up. Perhaps he&#8217;s too busy <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/articles\/official-james-bond-return-screen-070845526.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:playing James Bond in I\/O Interactive's forthcoming Hitman-like game;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">playing James Bond in I\/O Interactive&#8217;s forthcoming Hitman-like game<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">I suppose ratings and viewership talk, though, as <em>Original Sin<\/em> was never as critically acclaimed. It netted a so-so <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/tv\/dexter_original_sin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:70% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">70% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> and a more agreeable 78% from fans. Close to an 8\/10, therefore, but not in the same stratosphere as <em>Resurrection<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Perhaps I can now let it go. Now that <em>Resurrection<\/em> is confirmed to be returning \u2013 and I&#8217;m going to assume 2026 at this early stage; here&#8217;s hoping? \u2013 at least we get some more Michael C Hall action.
