They\u2019re taking a trip to Star\u2019s Hollow.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the upcoming documentary \u201cDrink Coffee, Talk Fast,\u201d<\/a> directors Meghna Balakumar and Kevin Konrad Hanna revealed that it wasn\u2019t hard to get the show\u2019s stars to talk.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone\u2019s been really, really open to the point where it\u2019s actually been surprising,\u201d Balakumar exclusively told The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe went to people\u2019s houses [to interview them]. We actually spent the day with them and their families, and kind of got to live their lives for a little while.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new project celebrates the\u00a025th anniversary of \u201cGilmore Girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

She joked that she was \u201cscared\u201d to go meet Kelly Bishop, because of her stern character, Emily Gilmore, but, \u201cshe was so warm and welcoming.\u201d \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cDrink Coffee, Talk Fast\u201d doesn\u2019t have a premiere date yet, but it\u2019s eyeing a summer 2026 release.<\/p>\n

For now, they\u2019re raising money to fund it on Kickstarter,<\/a> with a goal of just under $70,000, which has already been exceeded. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The documentary will cover the beloved family drama, which aired from 2000 to 2007 on The WB (which then became the CW) before it got a 2016 Netflix revival series, \u201cGilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cGilmore Girls\u201d follows former teen mom Lorelai (Lauren Graham), as she raises her precocious\u00a0 teen daughter, Rory, (Alexis Bledel) in the quaint town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Supporting characters include Lorelai\u2019s difficult mother, Emily (Bishop)<\/a>, her diner owner love interest, Luke (Scott Patterson), Luke\u2019s nephew Jess (Milo Ventimiglia), Rory\u2019s first boyfriend, Dean (Padalecki), local town weirdo, Kirk (Sean Gunn), and Lorelai\u2019s best friend, Sookie (Melissa McCarthy).<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you talk to the cast about this show, it still sits in such a special place in their hearts,\u201d Balakumar and Hanna said. \u201cYou see their eyes light up, and you can tell it\u2019s just like this moment in time in TV that can never quite be recreated.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

For instance, she said about the cast, \u201cthey\u2019re like, \u2018yeah, come on over,\u2019 and you fly to Austin [Texas] and you\u2019re walking into Jared Padalecki\u2019s house.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Although Padalecki is better known for his long-running starring role on \u201cSupernatural,\u201d playing Rory\u2019s boyfriend Dean on \u201cGilmore Girls\u201d is \u201cwhere he started.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe learned the industry and built relationships,\u201d Hanna told The Post. \u201cFor him, that was basically his high school college experience: growing up on the set of \u2018Gilmore Girls,\u2019 and the relationships and friendships that he made.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hanna recalled seeing Padalecki take a \u201ccall from Milo when we were hanging out with him,\u201d referring to Milo Ventimiglia<\/a>, 48, who played Jess, Dean\u2019s rival for Rory\u2019s affections. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo you can hear them just being good friends today. And I think that\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that the \u201cSupernatural\u201d star \u201clived with Chad during his early years,\u201d referring to Chad Michael Murray, who also played one of Dean\u2019s adversaries, since Murray\u2019s character, Tristan Dugray, flirted with Rory.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels like \u2018Gilmore Girls\u2019 was this kind of camp [for the cast].\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The filmmakers said that the documentary aims to cover both the main show and the Netflix revival.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the Gilmores. Every Gilmore,\u201d Hanna quipped.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And, although it will be a \u201cpositive\u201d doc, they won\u2019t shy away from \u201chot takes,\u201d such as the audience\u2019s reaction to the controversial \u201cA Year in The Life.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis show has created fun division in the teams of the boys,\u201d Balakumar said, referring to how some viewers prefer Rory to be paired with Dean, others with Jess, and others with her college boyfriend, Logan (Matt Czuchry).<\/p>\n

And, since \u201cA Year in the Life\u201d left Rory pregnant with an unclear father, the doc will cover rampant fan speculation about \u201cwho is Rory\u2019s baby daddy?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to cover all the discourse around it,\u201d she noted.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite including the bulk of the show\u2019s cast, they haven\u2019t yet confirmed if Graham, Bledel, or Amy Sherman-Palladino will participate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not done filming [the documentary], so we\u2019re really hoping that we\u2019ll be able to include everyone by the time we\u2019re complete,\u201d said Balakumar.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hanna added that they have \u201cmore people we will be announcing soon\u201d and \u201cconversations are being had.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
