Sombr fulfilled a childhood dream during his sold-out hometown show at New York\u2019s Pier 17 on Thursday, Oct. 9. The 20-year-old musician welcomed special guest Sam Smith to the stage to perform the In the Lonely Hour <\/em>single \u201cI\u2019m Not the Only One.\u201d The duet brought Sombr together with an artist who unknowingly played a significant role in his career.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is me when I was 14 years old, I was singing your song,\u201d Sombr told Smith, playing them a video of an early \u201cI\u2019m Not the Only One\u201d cover. \u201cAll I wanted to do is be like you.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n For a while, Sam Smith will be calling New York home, too. This week, they performed the first night in their 24-date To Be Free Residency<\/a> at Brooklyn\u2019s historic venue, Warsaw. Initially planned for 12 dates, the run is now scheduled to extend through December.<\/p>\n Smith performed \u201cI\u2019m Not the Only One\u201d during the encore segment on opening night of the residency. They also packed their setlist with covers of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Simon & Garfunkel, and the Magnetic Fields of Love. From their own extensive discography, Smith performed \u201cTo Be Free,\u201d \u201cI\u2019ve Told You Now,\u201d \u201cTo Die For,\u201d \u201cPalace,\u201d \u201cDancing With a Stranger,\u201d and more.<\/p>\n Sombr will continue his live show run<\/a> on the Late Nights & Young Romance Tour with another night at Pier 17 on Friday, Oct. 10. His set includes most of his debut album I Barely Know Her<\/a><\/em>, which features \u201c12 to 12,\u201d \u201cBack to Friends,\u201d \u201cUndressed,\u201d \u201cCrushing,\u201d and more.
