Susan Kendall Newman, the daughter of legendary Hollywood star Paul Newman, died on Aug. 2, her family announced in an obituary<\/a> Tuesday.<\/p>\n She died due to complications related to chronic health conditions. She was 72.<\/p>\n Newman was born in 1958 to her father, Paul, and his first wife, Jackie Witte. She began her career in theater, appearing in productions on and off Broadway.<\/p>\n She starred in Robert Zemeckis\u2019 1978 Beatles tribute movie \u201cI Wanna Hold Your Hand\u201d and had a small role in her father\u2019s film \u201cSlap Shot.\u201d<\/p>\n Throughout her career as a producer and writer, Newman won various awards, including a Golden Globe, a Humanitas Award, and nominations for the Emmy, Peabody and Grammy Awards, according to the obituary.<\/p>\n She dedicated a significant portion of her life to philanthropy and activism.
