Real Housewives of Potomac<\/em><\/a> alum Candiace Dillard Bassett<\/strong><\/a> is \u201cfloored\u201d by the news of Wendy Osefo<\/strong> and husband Eddie Osefo<\/strong>\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am shocked. I\u2019m sad,\u201d Candiace, 38, said during an appearance on FOX 5 DC<\/a> on Friday, October 10. The former Bravo star said she was \u201cshaking\u201d after finding out that the Osefos were arrested just before the news broadcast went on the air.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m literally just getting this news with you all,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s my first thought, that $300 and we\u2019re arresting a mother and a father, business owners, entrepreneurs.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cWe don\u2019t know what the charges are for but we know that the Osefos have a very successful marijuana business. They are providing jobs and opportunities for people of color in the area, in the DMV. My first thought is, \u2018Are they being targeted, is this something that we should be thinking about?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were arrested and booked on criminal fraud charges in October 2025. Us Weekly reported that a grand jury indicted Wendy and Eddie on multiple counts of insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and giving a false statement to police, according to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed on Friday that Wendy and Eddie, both 41, were arrested<\/a> and booked in Westminster, Maryland, one day prior. A grand jury indicted Wendy on charges of insurance fraud, conspiracy insurance fraud and making a false statement to police officers, court documents revealed.<\/p>\n

During Friday\u2019s interview, Candiace brought up fellow RHOP<\/em> star Karen Huger<\/strong>, who was released from prison last month<\/a> after a 2024 DUI arrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cKaren just came home. Karen paid her debt to society,\u201d Candiace said. \u201cBut one might opine, perhaps, Karen was made an example of.\u201d<\/p>\n

Candiace said she\u2019s \u201cheartbroken\u201d by the entire situation with Wendy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe text all the time. She never let on that anything was wrong. I\u2019m shocked, and it just feels like someone is out to get the girls,\u201d Candiace continued. \u201cHow are two women from the same show \u2014 the same show that features African American women, in the climate we\u2019re living in today, where people are being picked up and snatched off the street for frivolous nonsense. I would like to see everything before I make my final thoughts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wendy and Eddie\u2019s arrest comes more than one year after the Carroll County Sheriff\u2019s Office responded to a reported burglary at their home. The couple claimed in April 2024 that they had gone on a trip to Jamaica and found their home ransacked, reporting that several designer handbags and pieces of jewelry had been stolen.<\/p>\n

Eddie shared statements with two insurance companies regarding the stolen property at the time. Both Eddie and Wendy both signed statements claiming damages of $2,500 to their home and $450,000 in property.<\/p>\n

Following the reported burglary, there seemed to be discrepancies in the list of missing items. Two days after the alleged incident, Eddie updated the insurance claim to include Wendy\u2019s gold diamond anniversary band. They received a $25,380 settlement from Travelers Insurance following the claim.<\/p>\n
