This sun-soaked Oz crime drama picks up a month after the second installment\u2019s cliffhanger finale<\/a> when forensic scientist Blue (Mavournee Hazel<\/a>) came home to an intruder waiting in her living room.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re right to feel worried for Blue. The ripples of that woman\u2019s arrival in Blue\u2019s life will be significant throughout the season, affect the rest of the team, and her place within it,\u201d reveals NCIS: Sydney<\/a><\/em>\u00a0executive producer Morgan O\u2019Neill<\/a>. \u201cTheir work family has shifted significantly in that month. You\u2019ll understand why in the first three minutes of the show. Not everyone\u2019s happy about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Emotions must be put aside in the season premiere when the agents investigate a sinister terrorist plot. It\u2019s the first of many twisty cases featuring amped up action (if that\u2019s possible!) and new locations. \u201cWe lay it all on the line \u2014 the scale, the scope, it\u2019s increased season to season,\u201d O\u2019Neill says. \u201cOne week it\u2019s Ebola, the next Australia\u2019s version of Roswell in the deep outback, looking for people who have potentially been abducted by flying saucers. In Season 3, you\u2019ll definitely see some sides of Australia that you haven\u2019t seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n What you won\u2019t see is office romance, at least for now. The team\u2019s \u201cmom and dad,\u201d agents Michelle Mackey (Olivia Swann<\/a>) and JD Dempsey\u2019s (Todd Lasance<\/a>) attraction stays on simmer, despite how obvious it is to everyone that they\u2019re a match. O\u2019Neill explains, \u201cWe have two work colleagues who spend 50 or 60, 70 hours a week alongside one another, putting their life on the line for one another. They\u2019re both single, JD newly single. They\u2019re both charismatic, attractive, smart, brave, courageous, good people. But they\u2019re also the two bosses. How do they deal with that [attraction] without blowing up the team?\u201d<\/p>\n Things do blow up for agent DeShawn Jackson (Sean Sagar<\/a>) and constable Evie Cooper (Tuuli Narkle<\/a>). \u201cSomething\u2019s introduced into that relationship, which really changes the complexion of it in a really meaningful way,\u201d O\u2019Neill teases. \u201cIt allows us to look at their relationship, their friendship, the nature of what it means to be partners in a totally different light.\u201d<\/p>\n Every single person on the team might get their own version of Blue\u2019s surprise visitor. \u201cOne of the key through-lines for this upcoming Season 3 of NCIS Sydney<\/em> is the idea that you can\u2019t outrun your past,\u201d O\u2019Neill shares. \u201cNone of us can, let\u2019s be real. And in trying to outrun your past, all you really do is increase the velocity of impact when it catches you, which it will. For all our characters in one way or another, that truth becomes self-evident.\u201d<\/p>\n
