Neil Young<\/a> has announced that he plans to remove his music from Amazon<\/a>, the latest move in the rocker\u2019s ongoing battle against Big Tech.<\/p>\n \u201cThe time is here. Forget Amazon,\u201d Young wrote on his Archives\u2019 Times-Contrarian<\/em><\/a> this week. \u201cSoon my music will not be there.\u201d<\/p>\n Young didn\u2019t specify whether he would simply remove his music from Amazon\u2019s streaming service \u2014 as he did in the past with Spotify over Covid disinformation<\/a> \u2014 or if he would strip all Young-related items, including his physical albums, from the online marketplace.<\/p>\n As the singer explained in his note that called for fans to \u201cforget\u201d Amazon and the companies under its umbrella, including Whole Foods Market, \u201cIt is easy to buy local. Support your community. Go to the local store. Don\u2019t go back to the big corporations that have sold out America. We all have to give up something to save America from the\u00a0Corporate Control Age<\/em>\u00a0it is entering. They need you to buy from them. Don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n\n Young also reasoned that \u201c[Jeff] Bezos supports this government,\u201d which is in the midst of a shutdown that has impacted many Americans. \u201cThey shut down our government, your income, your safety, your family\u2019s health security,\u201d Young wrote. \u201cTake America Back together, stop buying from big corporations, support local business. Do the right thing. Show who you care.\u201d<\/p>\n Over the past half-decade, Young has frequently used the removal of his music (in the case of Spotify<\/a>) or participation (in the case of Twitter<\/a>, Facebook, and Instagram<\/a>) to protest Big Tech. The rocker previously lamented the outbreak of corporations like Amazon on his 2015 song \u201cBig Box.\u201d<\/p>\n
